Brian McDermott is the coach of Toronto. He was the coach at Leeds Rhinos for a number of years. The bloke was born in Wakefield, Wakefield Trinity being one of the founding clubs of the rugby league, so he really should know better than to spout insulting comments about other rugby league teams.
As for Toronto I was against having teams from another country in our leagues. We already have Catalans Dragons, a French side in superleague, and Toulouse in the championship, so fans of Wakey have to travel to Perpignan for away games. Now Toronto. Really not sure how its going work to be honest. It was mentioned that they could play all their home games at a ground over here but not sure on that one. It really isnt feasible for our rugby League clubs to travel backwards and forwards to Canada....I was really hoping that Featherstone Rovers would beat them but it wasnt to be.
