Derek Carr’s brother blames Josh Jacobs for fumbled toss
The Carr family sticks together.
Darren Carr, the brother of Raiders QB Derek Carr and head football coach of Bakersfield Christian High, protected Derek’s good name Sunday with a quick tweet after an Oakland turnover.
Early in the third quarter of the Raiders’ game in London against the Bears, Derek Carr threw a toss right past running back Josh Jacobs. The Bears eventually recovered the fumble and scored on the ensuing possession.

Initially, it looked like Carr, who’s paid to throw the ball downfield, somehow missed an easy pitch in the backfield. But his brother read Jacobs’ footwork as a miscommunication on the end of the running back.

Jacobs appeared to move as if the Raiders were calling a handoff, then he reacted too late as the ball sailed past him.
Ex-NFL lineman Mark Schlereth, the Fox color analyst on the call, sided with the Carrs, saying it appeared Derek had called an audible to change the play from a right-side handoff to a left-side pitch.
That switch-up didn’t register with Jacobs, and a few plays later the Bears had their first points of the game, a David Montgomery touchdown run.
