[Shooting Sports] Shotgun Sports Takes 5th at Concordia Sporting Classic

Doane Shotgun Sports competed in the Concordia Bulldog Sporting Classic on Saturday and Sunday in Brainard, Neb., at the Oak Creek Sporting Club. The Tigers finished with a team score of 1,212 and placed 5th overall. Events contested were two rounds of sporting clays and a round super sporting clays.

Doane was led by the duo of Mason Buzzard (SR/Trenton, Ill.) and Katie Petersen (SR/Fremont, Neb.). Both members of the Tiger squad posted scores of 248 (out of 300). Jared Crouse (SR/Haigler, Neb.) finished with an overall score of 242 and Jack Olsen (SO/Frederick, Colo.) broke 240 targets. JJ Iltz (JR/Valleyford, Wash.) posted a score of 234 broken targets. The five members posted the top scores for Doane in both disciplines.

Bailey Gasseling (JR/Lincoln, Neb.) finished with a score of 224 for Doane. Josh Mulinix (FR/Lincoln, Neb.) broke 217 targets while Morgan Psyk (SR/Albertville, Minn.) finished with a score of 215. Stephen MacNeal (FR/Weatherly, Pa.) posted a 206 score and Elizabeth Krejci (JR/Louisville, Neb.) posted a 196 over two days.

Petersen finished 2nd overall in the women's division and was the top scorer in sporting clays.

Next up for Doane is the Hastings Invitational held at Heartland Shooting Park in Grand Island, Neb., on October 12-13. The Hastings meet will wrap up the Tigers' fall portion of the schedule.
