Shinsei Gym to relocate
When we talk about the most noteworthy gyms in Japan it's fair to say that Masato Yamashita's Shinsei Gym is one of the most over-looked, and one of the ones that is consistently over-achieving for such a small gym.
It's the gym that has lead the likes of Hozumi Hasegawa, Etsuko Tada, Ryuya Yamanaka, Shun Kubo and current champion Kasumi Saeki to world titles and has crafted a number of solid and notable contenders.
Over the weekend the gym was in the news for other reasons, rather than ones related to it's fighters and their results.
The reason was that it was relocating, to a much bigger location.
The gym held an event to confirm that on November 1st they would be upping sticks and move into a 3 storey build in Higashinada-ku, Kobe, just minutes away from Aoki Station.
The gym will take up all 3 floors, with the ground floor being the car park and changing rooms, the first floor being the training area, which is 3 times bigger than the one they've had, and the other floor being offices and dormitories for the trainees.
At the event Yamashita mentioned how this was the third move since the gym was opened 13 years ago, but it seems like this will become the long term home for the outfit, with the gym looking like it's been selected for the continued growth and success of the gym.
