Texas shooting – Fears two dead and 20 injured as gunman opens fire at university homecoming party
TWO people are feared dead and at least 20 have been injured after a gunman opened fire at a university homecoming party in Texas.
Emergency services raced to the scene The Party Venue in Greenville, near Dallas, where Texas A&M Commerce College students were celebrating coming back to school.
Hunt County Police said three air ambulances took victims to a local trauma hospital and other victims were taken to Greenville, Quinlan and Commerce hospitals.
Their condition is unknown at this time.
Graphic video shared online shows bodies strewn on the floor in a pool of blood and at least one person receiving CPR as people can be heard screaming the background.
The event was a Halloween party called #Twerkortreat and was not a sanctioned event by the university – which is 16 miles away from where the shooting happened.
It is thought there were hundreds of students inside at the time of the shooting.
Unconfirmed reports suggest 20 people are injured and that the gunman used a rifle.
Police responded to reports of a mass shooting just after midnight local time.
They have identified at least 10 victims and believe others have taken themselves to hospital.
CBS 11 News reporter J.D Miles also tweeted: “Reports from Greenville of a mass shooting at a party venue with several casualties.
“Multiple first responders on the scene. I’m told it was a homecoming party and there are fatalities.”
Jason Whitely, a to WFAA-TV reporter said: “At least two fatalities. More than a dozen injured. A .227 caliber rifle is believed to be used. Motive unknown.”

He added: “The confirmed mass shooting is on US380 in Hunt County, outside of Caddo Mills at a place called The Party Venue. Texas A&M Commerce students were attending. This is homecoming weekend at the university.”
A police scanner reported at least one person was shot in the neck.
Hunt County Police have not made any arrests and have yet to make a full statement.
