Miami and Cincinnati are the only two teams in the NFL that have yet to win a game. The Bengals are in a battle with the Dolphins for the worst team in football and a shot at the No. 1 overall pick after a 27-17 home loss to the Jaguars. Offensively, nothing seemed to work. Andy Dalton was 22 of 43 for 273 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. Dalton led the team in rushing with 33 yards and one touchdown, while Joe Mixon, Giovani Bernard, and Alex Erickson combined for 16 carries and zero yards to show for it. Erickson did reel in eight catches for 137 yards but failed to see the end zone.
Jacksonville totaled 460 yards of offense last weekend with Leonard Fournette racking up 131 yards on the ground. The defense won’t have it any easier this week against the Rams, who boast a trio of stellar wide receivers in Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Brandin Cooks. The Bengals rank last in the league in yards allowed (430.9) and rushing yards allowed (189).
After three consecutive losses and some key trades, have the Rams regained their mojo? Los Angeles put up 37 points on the Falcons this past weekend on their way to a 37-10 victory. Quarterback Jared Goff threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score. Todd Gurley has been limited by opposing defenses this season and has yet to rush for 100 yards or more in 2019.
The Rams defense was on a tear against the Falcons and welcomed a new face in All-Pro defensive back Jalen Ramsey. Matt Ryan was limited to just 159 yards passing with one interception and was sacked five times. Two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald proved why he is a force to be reckoned with. Donald knocked Ryan out of the game with a strip sack in the third quarter. The unit had five sacks, forced three fumbles and held the Falcons running game to 38 yards. Dante Fowler Jr. led the team with seven tackles and three sacks. Linebacker Cory Littleton added three tackles, one sack, and one interception. Ramsey made an immediate impact as well with four tackles and a forced fumble in his Rams debut.
