Warren Gatland will return to his native New Zealand once the Rugby World Cup has finished.
There, he will take charge of the Waikato Chiefs.
The Hamilton-based side are in the middle of a six-year barren spell in Super Rugby and will hope Gatland is the man to lead them to glory.
After his appointment was announced, Gatland said: “I am really excited about the opportunity to come back home.
“The opportunity to come back as head coach of the Chiefs is something that I am really looking forward to.
“The Chiefs are well known for the success they’ve had both on and off the field and the really loyal support they have from everyone within the Chiefs region.”

Why is Warren Gatland leaving Wales and who is replacing him?
Warren Gatland has had a long time to plan his future, having announced his departure from Wales back in 2015.
And he admitted back then that his intention was to return to New Zealand.
Gatland said: “If I was involved in provincial rugby or Super Rugby, that would be great, but if I’m not, I may have to go to the beach for six months or 12 months, put my feet up and take a bit of a break.
“That’s the plan. I’ve been away for long enough. I’m 52, so hopefully I’ve got plenty more years left coaching.
“Post-2019 definitely the plan is to come back home to New Zealand.”
Scarlets coach Wayne Pivac was named as Gatland’s replacement in 2018.
