[Men's Basketball] Men's Basketball falls on road to Kentucky Christian
GRAYSON, Ky. - The St. Andrews men's basketball team fell to Kentucky Christian on Saturday afternoon with a score of 76-66.
How It Happened
Kentucky Christian got on the board first as they put up the first 7 points of the game before Jozef Vanderhorst knocked down a 3-pointer for SAU.
The offense of KCU was on fire as they created a quick 8-point lead against St. Andrews, but Isaac Clay sank a shot from behind the arc to bring KCU's streak to a halt with a score of 10-15.
Q'Dardruis Sanders hits a deep 3-pointer to shave the KCU lead to just 5 points, keeping SAU within two baskets of taking the lead.
Bringing the game within two points would be Myron Williams as he battled his way to the basket after bringing in an offensive rebound. KCU quickly answered back with a 3-pointer, making the score 18-23.
The offense of KCU picked back up and created a 10-point lead, 20-30, with 4 minutes remaining in the first half.
St. Andrews collects 4 more points while KCU brings in 3 in the last minutes of the half, heading into halftime with a score of 24-33.
Coming out of halftime, Kentucky Christian strung together several shots to create a 14-point lead.
After a steal by Myron Willams that resulted in his own basket from the post, SAU picked up momentum as Isaac Clay followed with a made field goal to make the score 37-44.
Another basket by Williams put St. Andrews within four points of the lead, but KCU responded with a made shot.
St. Andrews then answered back with a made shot from behind the arc by Jamaan Bailey, making the score 43-46.
With 12 minutes remaining, Bailey hit another deep 3 which was followed shortly by a 3-pointer from KCU.
Kentucky Christian made it an 8-point game with 4 and half minutes remaining in the game, 55-63, while continuing to knock down shots and extending the lead to 55-69 after two back-to-back 3-pointers.
St. Andrews was able to collect two field goals, but were quickly matched by Kentucky Christian.
Metcalf sank a three-pointer with a minute and 40 seconds remaining on the clock, with SAU down by 14 points.
St. Andrews was unable to work their way back into the game, falling to KCU, 76-66.
Key Players
Leading the Knights was Myron Williams with 18 points while also leading in rebounds with 10.
Jamaan Bailey also recorded double digits with 11 points with 3 shots from behind the arc.
Travis Thompson Jr. brought in 8 boards, the second highest rebounder in the game for SAU.
