Identified Prince as a mismatch very early and lifted the Raptors out of an early hole, and even a few steps past it. Injected a lot of pace and transition into the Raptors offense in this one, a ball hawk on defense and relentless pushing on offense. Flexed his superstar muscles a ridiculous amount in the first half. The offensive output waned a little bit in the second half, but the defense didn’t at all. Terrific game. |

Didn’t finish well when he ventured into the post, but that’s something we all want to see when he has a mismatch. Didn’t hit his triples either, really. But again, we like seeing them go up. His length and disruption on defense helped fuel a lot of the Raptors easy baskets, and that’s something he’ll always bring. Not his best. |

Looked like Marc Gasol of 13-14. Was an absolute hub on offense – connecting the middle of the floor to cutters, hitting jumpers, and taking care of business when he had a mismatch. Superb stuff. And as good as ever defensively, with sharp rotations and razor quick hands that made every venture into the paint a nightmare for the Nets. |

King of the grift. When the Raptors offense was dying he manufactured points out of nothing, and was happy to hand off the keys to Siakam when he had it going. Great recognition all game, and feisty as ever with his digs on the big men and his closeouts and rotations. Classic Lowry game. |

Dynamite. Played nearly mistake free (which is tough at his frenetic pace) and killed the Nets all night as an off-ball finisher. Basically, played his role perfectly. Far from empty calories as the Raptors certainly would’ve struggled immensely without his contributions. A wonderful night on top of quite a few impressive games in a row. |

It seemed like the team succeeded in spite of him in this one. So many actions ran their course only for him to abruptly end them with his deathly offensive prowess. He’s a good defender, for sure. Davis II had an off-game, but outside of that, I genuinely am not seeing what McCaw brings that justifies his time on the floor. |

Ate the Nets interior players for breakfast. Loved his motor, and it reminded me of his playoff run where he came into games to dominate opposing bench units in the paint. Still not getting the pick n’ roll possessions, but that’ll come. This was his sharpest defensive game since coming back, too. |

Tough game, with maybe a bit of shooting regression? Had a tough time finishing amongst the trees, and got stuck on his last step on his forays into the paint. The pacing will come, but tonight wasn’t his best. |

You could tell he really wanted to get after it against his former team, but it just wasn’t his matchup. The Nets have a lot of tweener type players and he couldn’t dominate like Ibaka or Gasol. Nurse played the right front court rotation tonight. No big deal. |

Not much to say. Got caught in the middle of a 3-point blitz from the Nets. |

Nick Nurse
Quite liked the Ibaka-Gasol minutes, and thought it was a great identification of the Raptors advantages. Don’t fully understand the extended run for McCaw, but it’s one game. WON A CHALLENGE! |
Things We Saw
- Dinwiddie is so much fun in the pick n’ roll. What a talent. It’s a bit of a shame that once Irving comes back he’s not going to get as many possessions, but that’s life. I’m waiting for the day he wins a championship as a 6th man, or an unorthodox 2-guard.
- Wow, Gasol. It’s been a few games in a row now that his 2-point attempts have finally started to look better. If the Raptors can start to expect games like this (and it doesn’t have to be this good) from him, their front-court is going to be seriously competent.
- Big shouts to Powell. He’s really been bringing it, and he’s probably giving Nurse some pause about how the starting lineup shapes up once VanVleet is back. The deployment of those two should have massive implications for the season going forward.
