Bride asks photographer & caterer to work for FREE because she can’t afford to pay due to ‘one-month honeymoon in Dubai’
A BRIDE has taken to Facebook in a bid to find wedding suppliers who will work for free despite having booked a one-month honeymoon to Dubai.
In return, the woman said they would receive “exposure” as she will soon be “starting an Instagram” page or – if they fancied it – they could work for free as a “gift”.
A snapshot of the post was shared on Reddit, where other users were horrified at her requests.
“Hi y’all! As you know, me and David are getting married soon. Can you believe it? I can lol, I deserve it,” the post began.
“We are blessed that David’s godmother has invited us to have her wedding at her estate.
“I’ll share some photos later but it’s gorgeous and it’s a historical landmark, which means my wedding is going to be historic!
“Because we are having an out of state wedding, which means we will be travelling and staying in hotels and also because of our honeymoon in Dubai (one month) I’m asking for your help with some wedding stuff!
“If anyone has experience as a professional photographer (not a hobby but getting paid as a job) please contact me or David. We need you.
“This could be considered your gift to us! We would need you to pay for travel to Maine and everything but I think once you saw where the wedding is you’d be begging us for the opportunity!
“If anyone knows a good caterer in Maine or willing to travel to Maine who will work for exposure. I’m going to be starting an Instagram soon.”
To other users’ horror, the bride even went on to try and secure a dress designer for free, too.
“Any dress designers out there?” She asked.
“I want that one of a kind dress! You need to be professional and talented. I want to feel like a princess!
“I will post your info and all of the pictures on here and on my Instagram.
“We also need all the usual stuff – flowers, searing, music (orchestra, no DJ, this will be classy).
“I can already tell you our event will get press because of the historic location.”
The person posting the screengrab also shared snaps of some of the Facebook comments, with many of the woman’s social media friends totally baffled.
One person commented: “No! You have to pay your people! This is their livelihood. I can help if you need but you have to plan this wedding properly. Pay your service people!”
While another said: “I think you should scale down your wedding if you can’t afford to pay for it. No offence it’s just kind of… tacky.”
Meanwhile, Reddit users were utterly horrified at the demands, with one commenting: “‘I will be starting an Instagram soon.’ She has no exposure to give, that’s a new one!”
Another agreed, writing: “Provide free food and catering for a wedding in exchange for exposure on a future Instagram – what a deal.”
While one joked: “We found a free location, now who wants to pay for the rest of the wedding.”
Many users were confused as to how the couple could have such a long honeymoon, but couldn’t afford the wedding.
“One month honeymoon in Dubai but can’t pay for flowers, catering, photography?” Wrote another.
