Foodies of the world unite because Top Chef Season 17 All-Stars cast has been revealed. The 15 contestants that will be vying for the top prize have been announced, which include fan favorites as far back as season 1.
The Emmy and James Beard Award-winning reality competition series is back this March for an all-new all-star season. The competition will heat up with 15 former Top Chef frontrunners, finalists and fan-favorite contestants from seasons past that will returning to finally claim the coveted title of Top Chef and a $200,000 cash prize. Also returning will be host Padma Laksmi, with judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons. The cooking competition has been a huge hit with fans who love to watch new kitchen techniques while learning the latest culinary trends
Announced at BravoCon (via People), the show's premiere will also be accompanied by the first-annual Bravo’s Top Chef Food & Wine Festival. The event is a partnership between Bravo and Universal Studios Hollywood. The "cheftestants" include: Season 16's Eric Adjepong, season 13's Karen Akunowicz, season 6,7, and 8's Jennifer Carroll, season 11's Stephanie Cmar, season 4's Lisa Fernandes from Chicago, season 6's Kevin Gillespie, season 12's Gregory Gourdet, season 12's Melissa King, season 14's Jamie Lynch, season 3's Brian Malarkey, season 16's Nini Nguyen, season 15's Joe Sasto, season 7 and 8's Angelo Sosa, season 6's Bryan Voltaggio and last but not least, season 1 and 7's Lee Anne Wong.
While the list of season 17's contestants is impressive, there are some noticeable absences who would have been fun to catch up with. Katsuji Tanabe, who is known for his kosher Mexican cuisine, has been vocal about his desire to return to the Top Chef kitchen. He seemed like a shoo-in but is nowhere in the lineup. Swedish chef Stefan Richter also resonated with viewers when he competed on seasons 5 and 10. With his amiable personality and quirky Scandinavian charm, Richter made it all the way to the finals in his first attempt on the show. His second time, he was eliminated in fifth place. There's also Elia Aboumrad from season 2. She made it to the final four before her elimination but remained a memorable competitor.
This season of Top Chef All-Stars teases with its amazing cast and pre-production hype. For months, fans have been tweeting show details and sightings all over the Los Angeles area. So many of the contestants left an indelible mark on their seasons in the past, that it should make for a truly rousing competition. Fans are eager to see which of these incredibly talented chefs will reign supreme.
Top Chef Season 17 premieres Thursday, March 19th at 10pm EST on Bravo.
