[Men's Basketball] Furious Second Half Comeback Falls Short as Basketball Falls
Trailing Southern Maine Community College by nine at half and then by 18 midway through the second half, things looked like they were all but over for Williamson. Anyone who left early though missed a furious comeback rally for Williamson that but a bit of a scare into the visiting Seawolves. In the end, Southern Maine escaped with a 68-66 win.
Southern Maine trailed by five in the first half before mounting a rally that would put them up by none at half, 35-26. Williamson shot an abysmal 35% from the floor in the first half and was outrebounded 23-10 at the break.
Southern Maine kept things up in the second half and used a 12-3 run to start the half to go up by 18 at 47-29 with 11:11 to play. It was then that Williamson slowly began to chip away at the lead.
Williamson closed to within three with eight seconds left on a three-pointer by John Mastella (FR/Ridley Park, PA). Ian Reagan then made two foul shots for the Seawolves with six seconds left before a Jonathan Cruz (FR/Dubois, PA) three-pointer at the buzzer closed things out at 68-66.
The biggest difference in the game was rebounding. While Williamson had 17 assists to just 10 for the visitors, Southern Maine outrebounded Williamson by a wide margin at 47-29.
Williamson was led by Vontango Donzo and John Mastella, who both finished with 16 points. Donzo also added 10 rebounds and nine blocked shots. Kyle Morgan (FR/Wilmington, DE) also chipped in with 15 points.

Williamson drops to 6-9 overall and does not play again until January 8. Southern Maine moved to 10-3 with the win.
