Player ratings – Jan Vertonghen a 7 – but an unfamiliar 4 for Tottenham v Wolves

Jan Vertonghen scored an injury-time winner as Tottenham kept up their top four chances with a 2-1 victory at Wolves.

Lucas Moura’s stunner put Spurs in front at the break, but a fine strike from Adama Traore got the hosts back into the game. However, as the clock struck 91 minutes, Tottenham’s Belgian centre-back planted a well-placed header into the bottom corner.

Here’s how every Spurs player rated on the day.

Paulo Gazzaniga, 7 – Made some crucial saves, but could only watch Traore’s thunderous effort fly into the top corner.

Serge Aurier, 7 – Didn’t offer a great deal going forward, but stood firm defensively.

Davinson Sanchez, 5 – Made one goal-saving block in the first-half, but that chance came from his own poor touch, which appropriately summed up his afternoon.

Toby Alderweireld, 7 – Defended superbly once again, making a number of crucial blocks and clearances.

Jan Vertonghen, 7 – Had a torrid afternoon against the tricky Traore, but came up with the goods in injury-time – his first goal since the opening day of last season at Newcastle.

Eric Dier, 5 – Had he volleyed home rather than onto the post, Spurs’ afternoon would have been a whole lot more comfortable.

Moussa Sissoko, 6 – Worked hard.

Dele Alli, 5 – Quieter than in previous weeks.

Lucas Moura 7 – One of Tottenham’s better players on the day, capped by a stunning opening goal – his third since the arrival of Jose Mourinho and fifth of the campaign.

Son Heung-min, 4 – Not his day.

Harry Kane, 6 – Did a lot of the dirty work, but didn’t have many chances at goal.
