Kim Kardashian in SF, all by her selfie
The doors of the Castro Theatre weren’t set to open until 7 p.m. but some fans of reality TV star and social media superuser Kim Kardashian West so anticipated the prospect of meeting their idol in person they decided to make a full day of it.
[...] of the restrictions, the overwhelmingly 30-and-under crowd in the sold out house (moved to the 1400 seat Castro after being initially announced at the 3,000 seat Paramount in Oakland) roared with approval from the minute they chased her black SUV into the theatre parking lot until she walked off the stage after her 45 minutes with Cordell concluded.
The retired judge, who in 1982 became the first African American female judge in Northern California, admitted that although she, like the rest of the world, knew who Kardashian was she needed to search out some additional material to more fully understand her appeal to the millennial audience.
The onstage conversation included topics ranging from building your social media brand (Kardashian West said “openness and honesty” were the keys to getting followers) to fashion (the star wore Balmain, a favorite for many seasons) to her favorite places in San Francisco (“AT&T Park, obviously,” she said, indicating the setting where her husband, Kanye West, proposed to her in 2013.)
Through the dark tinted glass the star was visiblely taking pics of the surrounding mob with her cell phone, or was she just capturing another image of herself for her next selfie book basking in the aftermath of her evening in San Francisco?
