Mayor: Chicago school cuts include layoffs, less maintenance

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel says the nation's third-largest school district is making $200 million in cuts that won't affect schools opening on time or class size.

Emanuel and school officials blame state lawmakers for causing further debt and say they want to consider renewing a property tax levy for future pension payments, among other things.
