Floor Is Lava: The Most Epic Molten Deaths On The Show
By now, you're probably hugely addicted to Floor Is Lava, so here are the most epic molten deaths on the show. OK, so maybe epic is a bit hyperbolic, but these contestants fell, floundered, flopped and choked it so well, people are still talking about it.
Take the pilot episode, for example. When alpha mom Shadi appeared with her twins Bryce and Talia, she seemed convinced that her family was primed and ready to conquer the lava-filled room. Unfortunately, once they got into the obstacle course, it was a bit overwhelming for them. The first truly epic slip and fall on the show was when Talia took one for the team and plummeted into the lava from atop a floating pyramid. Later, her mom and brother celebrated with hugs after making it through the room, with nary a mention of Talia.
In the same episode, identical triplets Sean, Mitch and Alex joked their way through their run on the show. Mitchell was the first to face-plant in the lava. Just when it seemed like Alex and Sean would emerge victorious, Sean inexplicably slipped and fell into the molten floor. Alex screamed for dramatic effect. It was priceless.
During the "Planetarium: Level 2" episode, the audience watched a trio known as the Bostonians strategize their way through the set. Now, those accents alone are reason enough to wish for the slow demise of this team's collective hopes and dreams. Still, they seemed to have a supportive dynamic. Chris, followed by Alex, plummeted into the lava first. But it was what happened to Anthony that is truly epic. With both of his teammates gone, Anthony attempted to pep talk himself into jumping onto a planet that would allow his safe passage to the other side of the room. He finally summoned the courage to go for it and YES! He landed on top of the ball, only to slide down it moments later like a raindrop on a window. Classic!
Sure, it's probably a bit sadistic to delight in the literal downfall of contestants on an absurd game show in which the floor is comprised of lava; But then again, it's kind of awesome, too. Floor is Lava is a hilarious guilty pleasure, and watching people's hopes of taking home a huge prize get dashed with each slip is part of its charm. Hopefully, if Netflix brings this gem back for another season, we'll get to see even more failed executions of stunts by contestants on the show. Until then, there's always season 1 to laugh at over and over again.
