Star Wars: 10 Amazing Quotes From Rise Of Skywalker That Stuck With Us
Similar to The Last Jedi, The Rise Of Skywalker is a strange phenomenon that split the fandom further, a seemingly impossible task given how much a lot of the fandom had gotten divided throughout Disney's ownership of Star Wars. The movie has a lot of problems from a narrative and writing point of view and gets hate for a load of different reasons. However, it does have some stuff to love.
As well as more fantastic performances from the cast, some beautiful, heartfelt moments, some visually awesome moments, and nice big chunks of fan service and emotion, the movie gave fans some great quotes to remember.
10 "Never Underestimate A Droid." - Leia (& Later, Rey)
There are so many hardcore droid lovers in the Star Wars fandom who believe that they deserve better treatment than they sometimes get. Some of the best and most beloved characters from the movies and TV shows are droids.
Just look at R2-D2 through the originals, prequels, and The Clone Wars, or Chopper in Rebels, or K-2SO in Rogue One, or BB-8 in the sequels, or C-3PO in this. Droids are amazing, and Leia and Rey get it.
9 "Yeah, Alone With Friends." - Finn
As all heroes who think they have to single-handedly save the day do, Rey planned on going on a journey by herself to locate the thing to locate the other thing to locate Palpatine.
Finn and co. would not have this. If the Wayfinder were going to get found, they would do it together, or rather, "alone, with friends," a wonderful encapsulation of a theme that is at the core of Star Wars. Friendship, or even more, found family.
8 "I Need You In Command With Me" - Poe Dameron
By itself, this quote is not exactly one that will go down in history like "No, I am your father." or "Do or do not, there is no try." or "I don't like sand." but the moment and meaning behind it makes it a perfect one for sequel trilogy fans and Poe Dameron fans.
Poe's realization that cannot just put himself in an X-wing and solve all problems by himself if he wants to be a leader is massively essential to the fulfillment of his bumpy arc. His asking Finn, his best human friend, to join him in command, to help him, and actually asking him for help, is a beautiful moment.
7 "In The Event I Don't Make It Back, I Want You To Know You've Been A Real Friend Artoo. My Best One In Fact." - C-3PO
C-3PO and Anthony Daniels was the biggest surprise performance and character of The Rise Of Skywalker by far, having fans reduced to tears in the trailer alone.
Of course, that quote is still beautiful, but holds less weight due to the fact the story got undone. This one, though, truly pulls on the heartstrings and will stick with fans forever, as the two constantly bickering best friends share a tear-inducing moment. It is especially powerful with Threepio, the notorious pessimist of the pair proclaiming his love for his friend, and with Artoo later reminding a mind-wiped Threepio that he is his best friend.
6 "We Had Each Other, That's How We Won." - Lando Calrissian
As usual, Billy Dee Williams was a joy to watch as Landonis Balthazar Calrissian in The Rise Of Skywalker, and this is one of his greatest quotes.
Reminding Poe and everybody that he and the rest of the rebels were underdogs, they faced insurmountable odds, a tyrannical Empire that was both irresistible force and immovable object, and won. They had each other, they loved each other, and they won.
5 "I Did Want To Take Your Hand. Ben's Hand." - Rey
Despite having a divisive finale to her arc with the whole Palpatine/Skywalker debacle, Rey has some brilliant quotes and moments to go alongside Daisy Ridley's great performance
The beauty in this quote comes in how tragic it is. Kylo is so held back by his own emotional internal struggle and all the anger, hate, and resentment he feels, but clearly cares about Rey. While Rey, so clearly cares about Kylo, but so desperately wants to meet Ben, and for the Light Side in Kylo to come out. This quote serves to improve the great moment where Ben and Rey meet in the final act.
4 "It's Not A Navy Sir. It's Just... People" - Frantis Gritt
Frantis Gritt is not a name many Star Wars fans are or will ever be acquainted with - unless, of course, Frantis Gritt: A Star Wars Story gets released. However, he is responsible for one of the best quotes of the entire sequel trilogy.
"Just people" is such an important message and idea - ironic considering how much it got promoted in The Last Jedi (with a lot of that getting undone in this film in terms of Rey's arc and broom boy) - that this Final Order officer, and every other, cannot comprehend.
3 "Dad?" "I Know." - Ben & Han
The best surprise moment of The Rise Of Skywalker was the appearance of Harrison Ford one more time as Han Solo, as a memory of his son, and the subsequent conversation.
It is a beautiful moment, mirroring the conversation the two had in The Force Awakens, but pretty much being the opposite outcome. It truly makes one wonder what would have happened had this beautiful moment been the outcome of the first conversation. The epitome of this entire scene is "Dad." "I know." Outstanding.
2 "Some Things Are Stronger Than Blood." - Luke Skywalker
As has been alluded too before, friendship and found family are two of the biggest and most prominent themes in Star Wars, and two that intertwine massively. Whether it be with Han and Chewbacca, or they two with Luke and Leia, or Anakin and Obi-Wan, or basically all the core characters of the sequel trilogy.
This moment of reassurance from Luke to Rey is beautiful, and a message that will ring true to so many fans out there who may struggle with 'real' family and issues with that.
1 "These Are Your Final Steps, Rey. Rise, And Take Them." & The Rest Of The Jedi' Words To Rey - Obi-Wan Kenobi & Others
While just about every fan would have preferred to physically see the Jedi appear in this movie, especially Anakin which is a bit of a nonsensical travesty, this whole moment where Rey says "Be with me." followed by the voice of Obi-Wan and other Jedi and Light Side Force users is beautiful.
Hearing Obi-Wan followed by Jedi like Anakin, Yoda, Mace Windu, Qui-Gon, Kanan, and then Light Side Force User and notorious non-Jedi Ahsoka is truly beautiful. Those first words, as well as a few others, will stick with fans.
