Kristin Scott Thomas was born 24 May 1960 in Redruth, Cornwall, making her 57 years old.
Acting almost didn’t happen for her when she was told she would never be a good enough actress – so she left England at the age of 19 to work as an au pair in Paris.
She went on to study acting while abroad, and was cast opposite pop star Prince in 1986 film Under the Cherry Moon upon graduation.
Her father, Lieutenant Commander Simon Scott Thomas, was a pilot in the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm, and died in a flying accident when Kristin was aged five.
