Emmerdale fans horrified as cast ‘break social distancing rules’ by touching each other
EMMERDALE fans were horrified last night to see cast “breaking” social distancing rules by touching each other.
The ITV soap aired scenes that were filmed before lockdown, and some were filmed after, leaving fans confused when they saw actors getting close.
Meanwhile, Emmerdale extras were spotted in scenes last night, brushing past Kim Tate (Claire King) while the village cafe appeared to brimming with customers.
One viewer tweeted: “Emmerdale why are you so far fetched there’s not much social distancing half of the village is next to each other and touching each other.
“Another thing, why is the cafe open there not even open in real life yet and why is there a hotel open there not open there’s no screens up (sic)”
And one more said: “There was no social distancing in last night episode !! Sam touched Lidia they were all close what’s going on??”
A fan typed: “Playing ‘spot the scene filmed under social distancing rules’ on tonight’s #Emmerdale was fun (and also weird)”
However, other viewers praised ITV for delivering the soap despite the challenges of social distancing.
One fan remarked on Twitter: “Looking at these scenes with social distancing yeah looks weird but oddly they don’t look like they are miles away from each other suppose that’s what the soaps want it to look like”
Another typed: “On the whole I don’t find the social distanced filming that distracting, but it’ll be weird seeing no fights, kissing, affection etc for a while”
Emmerdale’s Lisa Riley recently gave viewers a rare look behind the scenes on the soap – showing the homes all lined up in a vast studio.
The Mandy Dingle star, 43, revealed some of the new measures in place on the set in Leeds, including a lady who enforces social distancing with a giant stick.

She explained how the temperatures of the actors and crew are being taken on the way into the ITV base – and the whole building converted into a one-way system.
Lisa said: “We are now in charge of our own hair and make-up and of course our wardrobe is laid out for us in our room, fully sanitised, in the order we’re going to shoot that day.”
