Opposition MPs propose parliamentary probe into government's anti-coronavirus strategy

The parliamentary opposition has come up with an initiative to launch a special panel for investigating the effectiveness of the government fight against the coronavirus epidemic.

The commission will be tasked with probing into the activities of the Commendant's Office in the prevention of the spread of the disease and elimination of its consequences.

The proposal, drafted by members of the opposition Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia factions in National Assembly, has been sent to Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan for a further consideration. The lawmakers also called for a probe into the effectiveness and appropriateness of the government restrictions on human rights and fundamental freedoms in the period of the national emergency.

In a public post on Facebook, the leader of the Armenia party , Edmon Marukyan, says the activities of the group will be coordinated by Arkady Khachatryan, a member of their political team in parliament.
