Falcon & Winter Soldier Set Video Reveals Extended US Agent Fight Scene
New videos from the set of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier offer an extended look at a fight scene with U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell). The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be the first Marvel series to debut on Disney+ later this year, and expectations are already sky high. Unfortunately, production on the show has been shut down since mid-March because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, so major updates have been hard to come by in recent weeks. There are signs that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will begin work again soon, as the Czech Republic (where the series was previously filming) has opened back up for movies and television shows. When they do start again, the Marvel show will only have nine days of work left.
A big component of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is Sam Wilson's (Anthony Mackie) transition from Falcon to Captain America. The last moments of Avengers: Endgame saw the previous Cap, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), hand the shield over to Sam. However, Sam's going to meet some resistance from the U.S. government, who is interested in putting their own man forward for the job. In the comics, John Walker becomes Captain America, and he isn't exactly a good guy. So far, though, aside from a brief glimpse of Walker in Marvel's Disney+ Super Bowl ad, his role in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier remains largely a mystery.
Earlier this year, set videos emerged showing a fight scene with Walker and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). Now, five new clips have emerged from Charles Murphy of Murphy's Multiverse that offer new glimpses at this scene, including shots of Walker in action. While it can be hard to distinguish each character, Walker is recognizable from the use of his shield, while Bucky's metal arm can be seen.
From the videos, it doesn't look like Bucky and Walker are actually fighting each other. Instead, they seem to be working together against this unknown threat. While this doesn't match what fans were expecting, this also doesn't mean Walker isn't one of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's antagonists. It could be that he starts off as a good guy, and one that Bucky ends up helping as a way to make amends for his checkered past. However, odds are things will go south in this partnership.
Set videos can't compare to a real trailer, though, and fans are getting very impatient as they wait for real footage. Some have worried The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's production delay could result in the series getting pushed back, but Marvel hasn't officially indicated it'll move from its current August spot. If The Falcon and the Winter Soldier holds onto that time, a trailer could arrive in the coming weeks. Still, it's hard to say for sure because of that pesky delay. Hopefully Marvel decides to release something soon.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will premiere on Disney+ in August.
