Police officer dresses up as priest to save woman and child from hostage situation

The police had already been negotiating with the hostage taker for many hours after he had killed a man and wounded a 17 year old.

The criminal demanded that a member of the press , the father/husband of the victims and a priest to be sent into the room with him. To ensure everyone's safety a lieutenant colonel of the National Police of the Dominican Republic was dressed up as a priest to infiltrate the situation. After a few minutes the hostage taker stopped using the child as a shield and handed it back to its mother whom he was holding at gun point. Taking advantage of the opening the "priest" opened fire with a pistol he was concealing ( believed to be a Glock 18c ).
