Post ELMS – And Pre FIA WEC – Spa Notebook
Eurointernational Confirm Le Mans LMP2 Squad
EuroInternational have confirmed their three man crew for the 2020 Le Mans 24 Hours aboard their Ligier JS P217 Gibon LMP2 – The already announced Adrien Tambay and Erik Maris will be joined by historic racer Christophe d’Ansembourg. d’Ansembourg will be familiar to DSC readers via his current favoured historic racing weapons of choice the ‘Dream duo’ of a Jaguar XJR14 and Lola Aston Martin!
Masters Endurance Legends Pulls Out Of Spa Support Race
D’ansembourg won’t though be racing this coming weekend at Spa, the WEC-supporting round of the Aston Martin Masters Endurance Legends has been cancelled in the wake of the introduction of quarantine measures for travellers returning to the UK from Belgium.
Still understood to be on the bill though is the joint grid of Britcar Endurance and Sports Prototype Cup machines though it’s understood that this race too has seen multiple withdrawals for the same reason.
Post Race Penalties – DKR and G-Drive Sanctioned
DKR Engineering received a 250 Euro fine after Jean Glorieux managed to take the chequered flag twice at the end of the 4 Hours of Spa yesterday.
We mentioned in our race report that there was an investigation into an incident during the race where a G-Drive Racing pit-crew member was struck by the #37 Cool Racing Oreca as both cars were on pit-lane.
The #37 was completely exonerated by the investigation but, as this brief clip shows, G-Drive Racing have fallen foul of a number of matters arising from the incident.

The team were sanctioned both for not ensuring the safety of the pit stop, and for moving the team member in a way that could be damaging for him.

The Stewards ruled that G-Drive Racing must “accomplish some work of public interest” and that the team must take part in the extraction exercises for the next three ELMS races and that both the Team Manager and Car Controller must participate in those exercises.
The team member was taken to hospital for treatment and precautionary checks but was back at the circuit later in the evening.
Hangin’ Around!
As the ELMS teams cleared out post race last night a handful of teams were rearranging their garage set-ups for a second weekend of action – AF Corse rolling out the GTE Pro Ferraris, Proton Competition also reorganising, High Class Racing basically just having to swap between their two Oreca’s, Signatech/ Richard Mille Racing doing much the same!
Jota Sport were working on expanding their set-up from one car to two, and Algarve Pro doing the opposite, their pit garage looking more or less ready for next weekend within 90 minutes or so of the end of the ELMS race with the #25 set to be driven by John Falb, Simon Trummer and Jon Lancaster. That is not though the trio that is set to contest Le Mans with the team.
