WESTFORD, Mass. (AP) _ Ribbon Communications Inc. (RBBN) on Thursday reported third-quarter profit of $6.3 million.

On a per-share basis, the Westford, Massachusetts-based company said it had net income of 4 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and stock option expense, were 16 cents per share.

The maker of technology for telephone services over internet networks posted revenue of $231.1 million in the period.

For the current quarter ending in December, Ribbon Communications expects its per-share earnings to range from 12 cents to 14 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $235 million to $245 million for the fiscal fourth quarter.

In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, the company's shares hit $3.86. A year ago, they were trading at $5.38.
