KUWTK: Khloe Hopes Critics Don't ‘Overshadow The Greatness’ Of Kim’s Party

Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, Khloe Kardashian, responded to critics of fellow KUWTK star, Kim Kardashian’s extravagant 40th birthday party. She said she doesn’t want them to “overshadow all of the greatness” of the party.

Many people have been panning the Kardashian Jenner clan for posting about their lavish vacation for Kim’s 40th birthday on social media. Kim’s initial post which detailed what safety precautions were taken and how grateful they were was heralded as tone-deaf and insensitive. Although the Kardashian-Jenners have been largely protected from any serious financial repercussions of the pandemic, they haven’t been able to avoid the virus itself. In a new trailer for the next episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, it was revealed Khloe tested positive for the virus. Kim’s husband, Kanye West, also had the virus.

An interview on the Ellen show gave Khloe the perfect opportunity to push back against the family’s haters. The Huffington Post reported on what the Good American co-founder had to say to those who have drawn issues with their celebration. Khloe admitted she hadn’t heard much of the backlash and acknowledged how the year has been a “frustrating” one. In the same vein, she also acknowledged how it was a nice gesture from Kim. Khloe also explained how many of the attendees were “grateful” for the experience. “So many people said that we were their first party of guests that they’ve had in months and what it’s done for them to be able to pay their bills or to be able to do stuff for their family,” Khloe explained.

To the Kardashians’ credit, many precautions were taken to ensure the trip was as safe as possible. Less than 30 people were flown on a chartered jet to the private island Kim booked for the festivities. All of the attendees went through multiple health screenings and COVID-19 tests before they departed. There was also a ban on posting to ensure absolute privacy for Kim and her family. Kim also acknowledged in her post how the pandemic has put into perspective how privileged she and her family are. 

But the problem doesn’t lie in whether or not the Kardashians were safe; the problem is the family’s need to post about the trip in the first place. As the winter months approach the United States is experiencing a major spike in COVID-19 cases in most, if not all states. Financial and health situations for many Americans are just becoming more dire. But despite all the pain the country is experiencing, the Kardashians still feel the need to display how shielded they are from experiencing the same pain. This instance was just one in a long line of examples where the Kardashians have shown they’re completely detached from regular people.
