The Bachelorette: Hannah Brown Was 'Broken" Following Reality TV Stint
Former lead on The Bachelorette, Hannah Brown, recently went on Kaitlyn Bristowe's podcast, Off The Vine, were she spoke about her growth since appearing on several reality TV shows.
Hannah first joined the world of reality TV when she appeared on Colton Underwood's season of The Bachelor. While she only made it halfway through the season, Hannah left quite the impression on fans as she was named The Bachelorette soon after. Hannah went through a difficult during through her season, but did end up engaged to Jed Wyatt in the end. The engagement did not last long. The two broke it off a couple of months after filming had ended. Now it seems Hannah is working to move on from her time on TV.
In a recent episode of the podcast Off The Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe, Hannah opened up about how much she had changed since her journey on The Bachelorette and winning Dancing With The Stars last year. “When I think of Hannah then and I was also looking at my journals today, I’m like, ‘Oh, sweet baby,’” she told the fellow Bachelorette lead. “[I was] just was so doe-eyed and so innocent.” she added. The former reality star told the podcast host that it was difficult for her to watch her season 16 premiere episode. “I’m proud of my season and how I grew from that, but to know that there has been a lot that’s happened since then and to watch somebody else and realize that was me." Hannah wants the fans to realize that she was not playing a character throughout her season, it was an experience that greatly impacted her life that she is still dealing with. Her season affected her so deeply that it has been difficult for her to watch Clare's season, "I want to watch [Clare Crawley] and be a part of it, but I definitely think that there’s a part of me that has to step back a little.”
After her season of The Bachelorette ended, Hannah competed and won her season of Dancing With The Stars. She revealed that she was not in a healthy frame of mind to be doing the show. “I think I found the hardest, most draining distraction I could find to not deal with what had gone on,” she admitted. "[But] it’s not only hard emotionally, but physically, I’m still [recovering]...but it’s a ‘we’re going to ease the pain so you can get through....And that’s how I lived my life, like, ‘I’m getting through, but we haven’t fixed the problems yet.’” Hannah was completely broken after her time on reality TV and at times it was even hard for her to look at herself. She explained that the girl looking back at her was different and someone she did not recognize. Now Hannah is feeling more like herself and even moved back to Los Angeles after quarantining in Florida, then Alabama during the pandemic.
While Hannah has been though many ups and downs this past year and half, she had clearly been doing much better and is working towards becoming a better version of herself.
