Mandalorian: 10 Planets That Are Likely To Be Featured In Season 2
30The Mandalorian is finally returning to screens as season two drops on Disney+ at the end of October. There's been plenty of teases of what is to come and a few hints as to what characters might be involved. However, the planets are just as important as the people on them.
Season one of the show had some great locations covered. While season two may visit some of these again, thanks to some of the rumors circulating around, there's certainly going to be an even greater range of planets for Mando and the Child to explore together. From iconic places like Tatooine to the first on-screen appearances perhaps of planets like Batuu, we can't wait to see what's in store for us.
10 Ilum
Ilum is an incredibly important planet to the Jedi, and it has appeared in a number of incarnations across the Star Wars franchise. It is a primary source of kyber crystals, a material used in the forging of lightsabers. However, the First Order later turn the planet into the Starkiller Base.
Usually, the planet is a sacred location for Jedi younglings to go on a mission to retrieve their own crystals. The trailer showcases a snowy planet that looks extremely similar to Ilum, which would certainly match up with the journey for the Child's Jedi ancestors.
9 Tatooine
Tatooine is a crucial location for the Skywalker saga and actually appeared in season one of the show. It's a hotspot for bounty hunter activity and has links to the Jedi due to it being the location that Luke was hidden as a young child.
It's therefore likely that the famous planet will be revisited at some stage, perhaps as Mando tries to track the history of the Jedi Order and what has now happened to it. It might even be a way to connect to the sequel trilogy, perhaps with Luke even present on the planet.
8 Coruscant
There's been plenty of rumors that Boba Fett could be returning to screen for the first time since his apparent death. Tatooine is an important planet for that, but so is Coruscant. The former planet of the Republic has a seedy underworld in which Jango and Boba Fett both operated.
Not only does the planet, therefore, link heavily to the returning bounty hunter, but it's also the place in which the Jedi Temple used to sit. It makes a lot of sense for the Child to need to visit the location in order to track his roots further.
7 Endor
Cara Dune's backstory will probably continue to be fleshed out since the former Shocktrooper will be returning for season two. A huge part of her own story is the battle of Endor. Not only this, but, in general, Endor played a huge role in the fall of the Empire.
This is such an important aspect of the Star Wars timeline and eventually for the rise of the Jedi again that it makes a lot of sense that the show would visit the location, either with Care Dune as the lead or in the continued search for the Child's heritage.
6 Mon Cala
Mon Cala is the home of the Mon Calamari, a squid-like species that have been featured throughout the Star Wars franchise, and is famous for the inclusion of Admiral Ackbar, one of the Rebel's most senior officers. The planet may actually be in the season two trailer already.
The crew is visiting a fishing location, and the trailer sees a great range of Mon Calamari in the location. This would be the first live-action appearance of the planet, and there's no telling what secrets there are to discover beneath its oceans.
5 Yavin-4
If there was one planet that could be considered to be extremely vital to the fall of the Empire and the renewal of the Jedi Order, it's Yavin-4. It was the previous base of the Rebel Alliance and a brief home to both Luke and Leia.
Such a great location can't be ignored forever. It would be a lot of fun to see what Yavin looks like just after the collapse of the Imperials and before the rise of the First Order, and this series may be the perfect platform to revisit it.
4 Dagobah
Dagobah is the planet that Yoda hid on for years and where Luke Skywalker gained most of his training. It only stands to reason that there was a point to Yoda picking the strange, swamp planet and a reason for the Mandalorian to visit it.
Yoda is the last known member of the Child's species and his place of death was Dagobah. There's likely a lot that can be learned from the location, and it may be a place of deep power, considering the force seems so strong there. Plus, that cave could be quite useful!
3 Kamino
Kamino would certainly bring the show in line with the animated series further, but there's also a good reason for The Mandalorian to be linked to the planet in some way. There are many theories about the return of clone troopers like Captain Rex and his brother Boba Fett, and, as we know, Kamino is the planet from which they originated. It's possible that it becomes a part of this story in some way, especially since the Clones themselves were even modeled after the Mandalorians.
2 Mandalore
Mandalore has a complex history. After a civil war during the Republic era and a massacre thanks to the Empire, many Mandalorians went into hiding. They are scattered across the galaxy, and Mandalore is a shell of its former self.
While the show will be looking at the Child's own history, there's a possibility that it will also be taking a look at the potential rise of the Mandalorians once again. The suggested appearance of Sabine Wren would confirm that further and it would be great to see Mandalore in live-action.
1 Batuu
Batuu is the name of the planet featured in Galaxy's Edge at Disney Parks and has appeared sporadically in a number of different mediums. From the Thrawn novels to a VR adventure, Batuu has really been pushed as an important place.
The next best place for the planet to be featured is perhaps season two of The Mandalorian. It's an interesting place where a lot of dangerous individuals are known to be hidden, and it could therefore tie into the story rather well.
