Mum sparks outrage by stockpiling cut-price nappies and washing powder but she insists she’s in the right
A MUM has been forced to defend herself after stocking up on a massive haul of essentials for her family, after they were reduced in Morrisons.
She showed off her mountain of nappies, laundry detergent, and protein bars which were all on sale.
The mum managed to get her hands on a box of 52 nappies for just £3.60, which were down from £12.
And she picked up four bottles of Persil for £2.50 each, which were originally £10 – meaning she saved £30 on those alone.
Finally she picked up six protein bars, for 25p each, which were £2.50 each originally.
She shared her haul to Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, but felt the need to defend herself against trolls.
She wrote: “For those asking, I don’t know why they were so heavily reduced.
“I never go to Morrisons. Glad I did!
“Before anyone starts, I have a family. I do a lot of laundry. I’m also giving the nappies to a family member who is having money issues.
“The protein bars are for my Dad, I got 6.”
Her post racked up more than 2,000 likes, as fellow parents backed the mum, and claimed they’d have stocked up if they saw the same deals in-store.
One person wrote: “Nobody should justify a bargain especially now when others need help or can’t get out great bargains.”
Someone else wrote: “I think most of us would buy lots if we found a good bargain, after all a lot of people have struggled financially this year. It’s only greed if you buy more than you could possibly need or plan to make a profit.”
A third thought: “Well done, your money up to you how much you buy and what you do with them.
“You could say you’re donating them all to charity and you’d still get haters, seen it in another group, people just said she was attention seeking etc.”
Someone else posted: “I think having to justify any bargain is despicable!!”
While this person added: “Why do people feel the need to justify what bargains they get….it’s nobody’s business…well done on getting a bargain…
“And to be honest why put it on to show if you need to apologise for it…..true what someone said..you snooze you lose.”
The mum later responded to the comments, saying: “Thanks so much everyone for the kind comments.
“I see it all to often, that people get jumped on for buying lots of reduced things, and it angers me. I’m thankful to of saved myself some money, and to help someone else out.”
