Powerpuff Girls: Zodiac Signs of the Main Characters & Villains
While this is not based on canonical birthdays (especially for the Powerpuff Girls themselves, since they share a birthday), it’s fun to consider what zodiac sign might fit which character, especially because even the villains have plenty of personality.
Each of the 12 zodiac signs has positive and negative personality traits associated with it, and everything has been considered for these connections.
12 Aries: Buttercup
Although Blossom is the leader of the Powerpuff Girls, Buttercup could easily be the leader of the zodiac signs. Aries signs have plenty of fight in them, plus the stubbornness Buttercup can go overboard with at times.
She’s incredibly competitive, as most Aries are, and very honest - sometimes too honest. Since Buttercup’s biggest struggle is controlling her anger, it makes sense that she would be an Aries.
11 Taurus: Fuzzy Lumpkins
Talk about set in his ways. Fuzzy Lumpkins isn’t very active as a villain, mostly because he only acts out when provoked.
It’s not that people who fall under the Taurus sign are lazy - in fact, quite the opposite. Fuzzy has worked to maintain his family and his property, and he will fight back hard if someone threatens what he’s done.
10 Gemini: Ima Goodelady/Sedusa
Sedusa brings a whole new meaning to ‘two-faced’ - though that’s far from a Gemini’s only quality. Gemini are brilliant thinkers who get a bad reputation for being deceitful… which happens to be true in this case.
One of Sedusa’s greatest abilities allows her to impersonate other women and manipulate those around them, but in spite of her name, that's not the only thing that makes her a great villain. Plus, like most Geminis, she focuses on the future and what her next scheme may accomplish and doesn’t get stuck in the past.
9 Cancer: Professor Utonium
The Professor is wise, as most people who fall under the Cancer sign are, and is incredibly emotionally honest. As the Girls’ father, he never tries to hide how he’s feeling from them, and he doesn’t stop them from saving the world.
Though that doesn’t stop him from trying to protect them when he can, as any good father would. He’s also obviously creative, from the Girls themselves to his other inventions, and that takes a mind that’s found with Cancers.
8 Leo: HIM
Of all the characters in the entire show, HIM is the most ostentatious, loudest, and most dramatic - plus, he literally creates fire, so there’s that. Like most Leos, though, HIM is also very creative and very smart, with his plans usually succeeding or nearly so.
He’s much more successful and powerful than most of the villains on the show, and he loves being the center of attention. Furthermore, HIM’s playful, lighthearted, teasing voice frequently dips into his lower register when he’s angry, which lines up with Leo’s boisterous outward personality that can cover hidden depths.
7 Virgo: Ms. Keane
As the kindergarten teacher in Townsville, Ms. Keane is usually seen... well, teaching. She’s kind and understanding, but not afraid to enforce discipline, even her superpowered students. She’s also actually fairly analytical.
She makes the connection between the Girls’ inattention at school with their late-night monster-fighting and is smart enough to keep up with the Professor when a romantic relationship blossoms. Virgos are always learning and making new connections, and they're not afraid to fight for what they think is right - all traits Ms. Keane clearly possesses.
6 Libra: The Mayor
The Mayor is really doing his best. As Mayor, it’s his job to be fair and do what’s best for the city, even when the problems the city faces are from monsters and supervillains, not taxes and land disputes.
He’s a bit all over the place, which some Libras can be, and he struggles with setting down concrete plans, but he just wants everyone to be happy and safe, which is all this sign ever wants. While the Mayor did once lose the mayoral election to none other than Fuzzy Lumpkins, the city of Townsville could do much worse than having him in charge.
5 Scorpio: Princess Morbucks
If nothing else, Princess Morbucks knows what she wants, and she knows how to get it. She’s driven by passion, as most Scorpios are, but also struggles with getting her feelings hurt and knowing the best ways to cope with that.
She’s intimidating but honest, and she’s not afraid to dive in headfirst when it’s something she cares about, which most Scorpios can do as well.
4 Sagittarius: Blossom
Blossom is completely dedicated to her goals - whether it be passing tests or beating monsters. She’s frequently in the position of mediator between her two emotional sisters, but she also is their best motivator as well.
Like most people with the Sagittarius sign, she’s an impressive, creative leader, and she (almost) always tells the truth and encourages others to do the same.
3 Capricorn: Mojo Jojo
Mojo Jojo is never without a plan, and he never gives up (even when he really, really should). The same is true of most Capricorns, who are ambitious and willing to put in the work to get what they want.
Mojo wants a lavish lifestyle and Capricorn people are sometimes guilty of an over-appreciation for the finer things in life, but mostly, Capricorns want to be in charge, and Mojo Jojo certainly does too - he just wants to be in charge of the whole world and for everyone to do what he says, all the time. Plus, his lair is literally on top of a volcano and he has to climb to the entrance every day, just as the goat part of Capricorn's image would.
2 Aquarius: Ms. Bellum
Although Ms. Bellum doesn’t speak much, and in fact has never had her face completely revealed, she’s incredibly important to Townsville - especially because she keeps the town running with all the things the Mayor can’t quite handle.
While she’s good in a fight as well, her primary abilities trend more toward the deep, intellectual sphere - after all, her name is Ms. Sara Bellum, so it makes sense she’d be a brainiac like most folks under the Aquarius sign.
1 Pisces: Bubbles
Bubbles, the title sequence tells us, is ‘the joy and the laughter’ of the trio. She’s certainly the most in touch with her emotions, as well as the emotions of those around her, which puts her squarely in the Pisces category.
She’s called a cry-baby and told to grow up, and she does mature and grow, but she never loses her childlike innocence and naivety.
