10 Ways Disney's Marvel Legacy Can Crossover With The MCU
Disney+ had recently unveiled its branding change for all the non-MCU movies and TV shows that are available on the streaming platform. Renamed Marvel Legacy, there may be a larger plan here, in order to differentiate the general MCU from all the projects from other studios and movie universes.
However, there's also a high probability that there will be some kind of crossover at one point or another. After Warner Bros. made changes to their branding with the Worlds of DC, fans got to see the DCEU and Arrowverse Flash's crossover. With the new Marvel Legacy name now confirmed, there's a number of ways these franchises could be brought into the MCU.
10 The Spider-Verse
It was quite the shocking news story when sources confirmed that Jamie Foxx would be returning to the Marvel universe as Electro once again. While his initial version of the character was ill received, it did provide hope for some kind of Spider-Verse crossover.
Rumors have also been sparked that both Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield are set to return in the third instalment of the web-slingers franchise. If that is the case, then the Marvel Legacy films concerning Spider-Man may all become part of the wider canon.
9 Strange's Dimensions
Doctor Strange's sequel will clearly be dealing with the multiverse, thanks to its not so subtle title. With director Sam Raimi on board as well, it has only added more credence to the theory that the other versions of the web-head might be brought into the MCU.
However, with the Scarlet Witch also a part of the sequel film, there's a lot of other realms in the multiverse that may be explored. For instance, perhaps this is a way for the mutants and X-Men to finally be brought in, or something more demonic or magical like Ghost Rider.
8 Anthology Series
Speaking of Ghost Rider, a character like that may be pretty well suited to an anthology series, alongside other solo heroes like Blade or Deadpool. The comics were famous for their anthology titles, such as Journey Into Mystery.
Perhaps an ongoing Marvel Legacy anthology could be created, that shows a number of projects from the past and their loose connections to the current MCU. It would certainly be an idea that many Marvel fans would appreciate.
7 What If?
Marvel and Disney+ have decided to create a What If? which will look at alternate realities where things in the MCU didn't quite work out the same way. Marvel Zombies, Peggy Carter as Captain America and King T'Challa as Star-Lord are all examples of this.
Perhaps there's a way to tie in the What If? universes with that of the Marvel Legacy. For instance, for an episode that see's Peter Parker not get bitten by a radioactive spider, perhaps it creates a universe where Ben Affleck's Daredevil has to step up on the streets of New York.
6 Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that are left now that the organisation has gone through many different forms, have pretty much split up and found their place in the MCU. But there's nothing stopping them from going on a brand new adventure.
Perhaps rather than going through the timeline or into space, they can go throughout the multiverse which has been strongly hinted at. It might be a way to bring characters on the edges of the MCU, into contact with Marvel Legacy heroes and villains.
5 More Mutants
Wanda Maximoff once uttered some incredibly famous words in the comics. No more mutants. However, the MCU could absolutely flip that concept on its head and have the Scarlet Witch instead bring many more mutants into the universe.
This could be a subtle way to clash both the X-Men universe and the MCU together. The Scarlet Witch is incredibly powerful and perhaps there will be hints to the wider mutant world as early as the upcoming WandaVision show on Disney+.
4 Changing Timeline
The timeline has been changed a little thanks to the events of Avengers: Endgame. After jumping to multiple eras it's fair to say that the Avengers didn't exactly leave the time stream how they found it. This could have huge repercussions moving forward.
It may be that these events triggered other people from across the universe to start investigating what happened. For instance, the Fantastic Four seem like a logical group who may have discovered changes in the timeline and set out to find out what happened.
3 Deadpool's Interference
Deadpool is perhaps the Marvel Legacy character that fans will be hoping for most in the MCU. Thanks to his fourth wall breaking personality, it may be relatively easy to actually bring him in. What's more, it's been proven that the character can work in PG.
There's a lot of great changes Deadpool can make when entering the MCU, but one way in which he can make it there is through his own interference in the time stream. The post credits sequence of his previous film shows him using the time travel watch to change a great deal of events.
2 The Watchers
One piece of the connective tissues throughout all of these films and even some TV shows, is that Stan Lee has appeared in almost all of them. He was revealed as an informant to the Watcher which suggests that there really could be a larger multiverse.
A great way to bring in the Marvel Legacy characters therefore is to have the Watchers as the connections between these franchises. Perhaps bringing together the heroes for a much larger threat, the Watchers have vowed never to interfere, unless Uatu gets other ideas.
1 Star Wars Legends Comparisons
The Star Wars universe has coined the concept of Legends as a way of defining what is and isn't part of canon. In many ways Marvel Legacy feels a lot like Star Wars Legends. It may therefore follow a similar formula.
Characters and ideas from Legends are used in the main continuity but they are considered fictional tales that may or may not have happened. The same could apply to the MCU, so while there's never a direct crossover, they are loosely connected in themes and ideas.
