Child abuser ‘deliberately scalded toddlers, then said doing so made him feel “kinda sad”‘
A father allegedly poured scalding hot water on two toddlers, and later said he felt ‘kinda sad’ about it.
Austin Woolsey, 24, was arrested in Washington County, Utah on Thursday after two children, age two and three, were taken to the hospital with second-degree burns on their bodies, police said.
Woolsey admitted that he intentionally poured hot water on the children, as first reported by ABC 4.
They asked if Woolsey knew what he had done was bad. He responded that he had learned his lesson, but felt ‘kinda sad.’
The burns were large, with the two-year-old having marks on his torso, and the three-year-old with marks on his forehead and neck area, according to police.
The burn mark appeared to have been caused by some type of liquid, police said.
It is not clear what the relationship is between Woolsey and the children.
He has been charged with two counts of child abuse and inflicting serious physical injury intentionally, both of which are felony charges.
