Why Among Us' Airship Doesn't Have Visual Tasks | Screen Rant
Among Us' Airship update has elevated the social deduction game to new heights. Developer InnerSloth released the new map along with a slew of new features and cosmetics on March 31. The Airship is one of the most drastically-different maps in Among Us so far, with its own traversal mechanics like ladders and hovering platforms. InnerSloth has also seemingly removed a feature present in all its previous stages, Among Us' visual tasks.
These duties are part of the laundry list of chores that Crewmates can complete to escape the Impostors' murderous clutches. Visual tasks, however, have an animation associated with them that informs anyone nearby that they're being completed, like the Submit Scan task in The Skeld and MIRA HQ. Impostors cannot interact with any of the Crewmates' chores, so visual tasks have become a popular way to spot the murderers since they're impossible to fake. That strategy isn't possible on the Airship stage at the moment.
Four Airship tasks appear to be normal Among Us visual tasks because of the type of work they involve. These include putting away the pistols and guns in the Armory, picking up the towels in the Showers, and the Decontaminate task in the Main Hall. The player completing the Decontamination task can see its animation, but other Among Us players don't. The same goes for all of the other three aforementioned tasks, which could make the Airship the first Among Us map not to include visual tasks.
This could be a bug that InnerSloth hasn't addressed yet. Several errors emerged when Among Us' Airship map launched, but the developer has not mentioned any task-related issues in its public bug list. None of the blog posts published ahead of Among Us' The Airship update mentioned anything about removing visual tasks either, so their absence has taken some players by surprise. Screen Rant reached out to InnerSloth for comment, but did not hear back in time for publishing. Still, there's a reason why the developer might have wanted to get rid of Among Us' visual tasks in its latest update.
Many Among Us users have grown sick of visual tasks because so many players rely on them as a way to prove their innocence. That has resulted in people regularly commenting "watch me scan" to prove to the lobby that they aren't Impostors. Even so, Among Us' customization options have long offered players the option to turn off visual tasks. That makes the Airship's lack of visual task seem strange since every other map gave gamers the option to choose if they wanted to include them.
