Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond Becomes Dr. Fate In New Black Adam Fan Art
Pierce Brosnan's James Bond becomes Dr. Fate in new Black Adam fan art. The Irish actor was the fifth to portray the iconic secret agent James Bond, starring in four films in the series from 1995 to 2002, the first being GoldenEye. Brosnan went on to star in three more Bond movies (Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day) before being replaced by current Bond actor, Daniel Craig, in 2006's Casino Royale. Though 007 is one of the longest-running and most popular film franchises ever, Brosnan is generally viewed as one of the more overlooked and under-appreciated Bond actors.
It was recently announced that Brosnan will join DC's cast of heroes in Black Adam alongside Dwanye Johnson as the powerful sorcerer, Dr. Fate. Brosnan will also be joining fellow Justice Society of America members, including Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman. Brosnan's casting as Dr. Fate, also known as Kent Nelson, rounds out Black Adam's JSA roster for filming to begin this month.
Until any official images from Black Adam are released, BossLogic has some new art to satiate fan's appetites. The piece is inspired by a famous GoldenEye poster in which Brosnan's James Bond holds the character's famous Walther PPK pistol equipped with a silencer, which is then combined with Dr. Fate's golden helmet. The fan art, pictured below, makes for a seamless amalgam of Bronsan's two characters:
While a lot of Dr. Fate fan art has been popping up online since news of Brosnan's casting was announced, this is the first piece to combine Brosnan's Bond with the DC hero. Both characters have been around for a while, as Dr. Fate first appeared in comics in 1940 as Kent Nelson, son of archaeologist Sven Nelson. After they open the tomb of Nabu the Wise, Sven is killed by toxic gas, but Kent survives and ends up becoming his apprentice. Nabu teaches him sorcery, gifts Kent his recognizable golden costume, and guides him in his future endeavors.
In the comics, Dr. Fate is one of the founding members of the Justice Society, so he is naturally one of the more experienced and well-respected DC heroes. This sounds like the perfect casting for Brosnan at this point in this career, which may actually spell more roles for him within the DCEU. With Johnson starring as the film's titular anti-hero, he and Brosnan will certainly be Black Adam's biggest headliners when it premieres next summer.
