Marlins Place Garrett Cooper on 10-Day IL
Cooper had an adverse reaction to his second COVID-19 vaccine shot, which will keep him out of the lineup on Monday vs. the Cardinals. They placed him on the IL, but because his absence isn’t COVID-related, he won’t have to wait the full 10 days to be activated. In other words, he can return to the lineup as soon as he’s healthy enough to play, but placing him on the IL allows the Marlins to fill his roster spot for the time being.
Cooper is off to a solid start this season. He’s posted a .333 batting average through his first three games, and he’s also hit one home run. He’s also added a walk over that time frame, giving him a 1.178 OPS to start the year. Cooper has started each game in right field for the Marlins this season, and he’s also spent some time at first base.
The Marlins are currently listed as -118 favorites over the Cardinals on FanDuel Sportsbook.
