[Softball] Softball Falcons Sweep Weekly KCAC Honors
WICHITA, Kan. – To coincide with their streaking success, the Friends University Falcons have swept this week's KCAC awards, with sophomore catcher Carolyn Dallimore winning Player of the Week honors and senior hurler Hali Walters securing the top pitcher nod.
Dallimore continued her hot hitting with a .500 average along with three homers and five RBIs to lead the Falcons to five wins out of six this past week.
A Patterson, Calif. native, Dallimore also had a double and scored four times in the six outings.
Dallimore is now tied for second in the KCAC with seven homers on the season and is fifth in slugging percentage (.740).
"Carolyn hasn't been getting great pitches the last few conference games, but she's been better than her scouting reports and on fire at the plate!" said Friends softball head coach Suzanne Unruh.
Walters has found her groove and then some, posting an 0.68 ERA in 20.2 innings along with 23 strikeouts in four outings this past week.
The Longmont, Colo. native started the week by blanking the No. 23-ranked Ottawa University Braves with six strikeouts before pitching another scoreless frame in the second victory at Ottawa. She finished the week with a combined 17 strikeouts and only two earned runs allowed in 14.2 innings vs. McPherson College and Bethel College.
Walters has surged to the top of the KCAC leaderboard this season in strikeouts (85) and ranks fourth in the league in wins (nine).
"Hali is just leaving it all on the field, finishing her senior season giving it all she's got and doing awesome at it!" Unruh said.
Winners of nine of their last 10 games overall, the Falcons are 20-11 on the season and 9-3 in the KCAC.
Friends will next be in action Wednesday afternoon (Apr. 7) on the road at the University of Saint Mary starting at 2 pm in Leavenworth, Kan.
