Pioneers of Olive Town: Are There Golden Products? | Screen Rant
There are many ways to mark progress in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. Raising skill levels to make farming easier, and upgrading tools, buildings, and farming areas are good ways to see a Story of Seasons' farmstead grow. Raising healthy animals is especially important, as their happiness and friendship levels dictate how many products they produce and what the quality of those products will be. However, Pioneers of Olive Town has removed a past mechanic used to show a player's success at raising a top-quality animal, and it might cause disappointment among Story of Seasons fans.
There are a wide variety of animal products players can get in Pioneers of Olive Town. Milk, eggs, wool, and fur from different animals can be processed using Pioneers of Olive Town's Maker Machines. With these Makers, products like butter, cheese, mayonnaise, cloth, and yogurt can be churned out to help raise a profit while working on the farm. Animal product quality is determined by two different factors: what generation of breeding animals are a part of, and how high their happiness and friendship levels are.
These levels can be raised in Story of Seasons by caring daily for each animal, making sure they have plenty of food, and letting them outside in good weather. Breeding is a key feature of Pioneers of Olive Town. Store-bought animals can only produce products with a max quality level of 3 stars, and breeding is the only way to increase the max quality each animal's products can achieve. Products can reach a total of 10 stars, which requires players to breed down through many generations over several in-game years.
In past Story of Seasons titles like Friends of Mineral Town or Trio of Towns, there was a chance of obtaining golden products from livestock when they reached the right levels. Golden products were often a symbol of reaching peak quality with the animals, and could be sold for a high price, or used in specific quests. Pioneers of Olive Town has removed the golden products, instead having players focus on obtaining items like Milk+ and Eggs+, which have a greater processed product yield when put inside Makers. While it isn't clear why Pioneers of Olive Town removed the iconic golden goods from the game, it might be a disappointment for many fans of the series who have used it as a milestone marker in previous Story of Seasons titles.
Currently, it doesn't appear the golden products will be reintroduced using the DLC expected to release in bursts for Pioneers of Olive Town in the coming months. However, there are many other exciting new additions to look forward to from past games, like previous marriage candidates and characters, as well as new areas to explore. These Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town areas could include new livestock options, expanding the variety of species and products currently available in the game.
