After being arrested on fraud and money laundering charges, fans are digging into Jen Shah's personal business and unearthing new shocking reveals. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star is now being accused of faking the mansion she portrayed as her house on the show. Investigative fans have located what they believe to be Jen's real home and are calling her bluff.
It's been one week since the Housewives community was rocked by news of Jen's arrest while filming. She was shooting a scene for season two when she was reportedly tipped off about the cops that were looking for her. After attempting to flee the scene, cops closed in on her and took her into custody while four of her co-stars watched on. Jen and her assistant Stuart Smith are each facing prison time for their alleged involvement in a nationwide telemarketing scheme. The Bravo star is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from unsuspecting victims.
Now that her shady business dealings have been put on blast, many are looking into how Jen was able to get away with her scheme while appearing on a reality show. According to the New York Post, the $3.9 million Salt Lake City home she referred to as the “SHAH SKI CHALET” on the show was a rental. Jen reportedly rented the lavish home shortly before filming for season one began. Now fans are calling the housewife out for reportedly living in a "dilapidated" home in comparison to the mansion she passed off as her own. The company who actually owns the home tells the Post they were completely unaware that Jen was posing the house as her own on television.
The shocking revelations come as Jen and Smith face upwards of 30 years in prison for their part in the telemarketing scheme that allegedly had been going on since 2012. "Shah and Smith flaunted their lavish lifestyle to the public as a symbol of their ‘success,’” Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Peter Fitzhugh said in a statement. “In reality, they allegedly built their opulent lifestyle at the expense of vulnerable, often elderly, working-class people.” On the show, Jen didn't do much explaining what her business was all about. During the reunion, when asked by Andy Cohen, fans noticed how Jen failed to give a direct answer. Most recently, Andy broke his silence on her arrest and said he is waiting to see how it all plays out.
Jen is expected to return to filming but has taken a hiatus amid her recent arrest. Lisa Barlow, Heather Gay, Mary Cosby, and Meredith Marks were with Jen filming a scene right before she was arrested. Fans are anxious to see how this all will play out on the show.
