Outriders: The Best Devastator Skills For New Players
Outriders is the first game by publisher People Can Fly. Players can choose between different roles on their team to help ensure everyone's survival through each level. The Devastator, for example, works as a tank and can take the damage that some of the squishier teammates may not be able to take. This character is the sturdiest of the Outrider classes.
However, the Devastator is more than just a shield from damage. There are plenty of great builds for the Devastator and each build really depends on what your team is looking for. For new players, this can be a little harder because they may not be sure what to expect. However, we do have some ideas as to what builds would be best for new players!
The first thing to know is that the Devastator, regardless of build, has a few skills that will unlock over time. Regardless of skill trees, these attacks will become available and players will be able to assign them whenever they see fit.
- Earthquake releases a shockwave that deals 85 damage and interrupts all enemies in front of the player.
- Golem will fortify the player against 65% of incoming damage for eight seconds.
- Gravity Leap will have the player jump into the air and strike targets from above, dealing 107 damage. Landing will interrupt enemies within a small radius.
- Reflect Bullets will create a barrier that shields the player from enemy projectiles and accumulates damage. After 10 seconds, the damage is reflected back to enemies ahead. The barrier will also protect the player against melee attacks by reflecting some damage back to enemies.
- Boulderdash charges forward to interrupt all enemies in their path and deals damage. The move finishes by smashing the ground and dealing damage to all enemies in a small radius.
- Endless Mass will encase a single target in stone. This will inflict bleed and pull enemies within a small radius towards it. The stone will eventually explode and deal damage to all enemies within a small radius.
- Impale will interrupt a select target's skills, inflict Bleed and deal damage. The enemy will be impaled if the damage is lethal. This will create a zone that grants a health and armor regeneration bonus to allies in range for nine seconds.
- Finally, Tremor will create a series of explosions around the player. Each explosion will deal damage and drain health from enemies within a medium radius.
It's nice to know what's available ahead of time so players can best choose what is available to them later. It can also help create the right build for their team.
The Devastator has three main branches of Class Skills to choose from, but players can unlock a section of small and large nodes in each branch before committing to a specific path. Skill Points are given when players level up. The three main branches of their skill tree are Vanquisher, Warden, and Seismic Shifter. The Vanquisher is a weapon master who deals more damage, shoot more accurately, and reloads faster. The Warden focuses on health and armor regeneration. Finally, Seismic Shifter lets the player buff their Anomaly Power and makes the player resistant to various status effects. Each branch has its positives and negatives, but players should try different things to see how they go.
With all this information in mind, it's nice to know what builds would work best for a beginner Devastator. Although players can choose their own path, first time players may want to create a character that works to their advantage. Some of the first skills the player will get are actually perfect for beginners.
By the time the player defeats the first boss, they'll have access to the skills Earthquake, Golem, and Gravity Leap. These moves are great for beginner Devastators. Earthquake will give the player a chance to interrupt their enemy's mid-attack. This opens the enemy to damage if the initial Earthquake didn't take them out. Golem will let the player rush into a fight for eight seconds and do whatever damage is possible. It will also help in when the player is in a bind. Gravity Leap can help the player escape from a tight spot and do damage upon landing. These three moves are ideal for new players to try out and use.
Class points are a little different. Once players have leveled up a bit, they'll be given skill points to assign to any branch they deem worthy. It's also nice to know that, if the player decides to change their build, they can reset their skill tree at any time. Although there are a few ways to approach this, the upgrades that seem the most effective right now are Havoc and Colossus. Havoc will increase the player's weapon damage by eight percent and Colossus increases the player's max health by ten percent. This can give the player the advantage they really need.
It's also important to remember to equip the character with the right gear and weapons. Be sure to keep an eye on what weapons are best suited for each build. So far, we've found a few pieces of gear that can give the player a bit of an advantage. Perseverance headgear will increase the Golem skill's duration by 50 percent, giving the player more time to be invincible. For upper armor, Golem of Death will extend the duration of the Golem skill by 1.5 seconds for each killed enemy when activated. Armor Boost is best for lower armor, as it grants Earthquake more armor points for each enemy affected by the skill. Additionally, the effects last for ten seconds. Ground Crush gloves will increase the damage of Earthquake by 65. Finally, Live Absorption footwear will heal for 100 percent of the damage dealt. IF the target dies, players will get healed for 200 percent of the damage dealt. Keep in mind that there is more loot to find in the game. However, so far, these seem to be the best items for new players with this skill set.
Finally, remember to ensure that the weapons that the player chooses are best suited for the class skills and attacks the player has chosen. The submachine gun helps neutralize enemies quickly. Although the player will find an SMG in a chest, be sure to swap it out for a Legendary weapon if the player gets the chance. The Grim Marrow and Migraine are powerful submachine guns to use. When in close combat, using the shotgun is the best way to go. Although the player may find a few machine guns that are great, keep an eye out for the Aerie Master and Golem's Limb legendary pump-action shotguns. These weapons do great damage in close combat.
Outriders is now available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
