Star Wars: The Main Characters' Homes (Or Ships), Ranked Lamest To Coolest
Often it is hard to imagine the larger-than-life characters of the Star Wars Galaxy leading more normal, settled lives, having homes, for example, or a family to go home to. But these things are very much real in the Galaxy far, far away. While audiences usually follow the character on outstanding adventures, there are places of residence for most of the characters.
Some of the characters have permanent homes, whether they be in the form of ships, palaces, or houses; others, though, have more temporary places to live as they await adventure and some bigger purpose. Many of these character homes inspire jealousy from fans who want to live in the expansive fictional Galaxy, but some make us thankful for our places on Earth.
10 Hellhound Two
Hellhound Two is simply the official name for the crashed AT-AT on Jakku (a remnant from the famous battle there), which Rey has occupied and is using as her home. As resourceful as it is, it is not the best place to live in the Galaxy.
Rey does not exactly have much choice in where she lives, making her scavenging and surviving all the more impressive. But for such a genuinely good person, she deserves a lot better and dreams of better too, eventually finding it away from the rusty, sandy remains of an Imperial Walker.
9 Yoda's Hut
Is Yoda's hut on Dagobah iconic? Absolutely. Is it somewhere that would be a cool place to live? Absolutely not. A swamp planet with who knows what swimming about and a hut that is made for someone of Yoda's size is hardly ideal.
It is a dull, mucky fit-for-a-swamp home, and while everyone knows why Yoda went to Dagobah, it is not the coolest or nicest location to live out the rest of your days. It is an isolated version of the Shire, except far dirtier and wetter. The opposite of cool in the Galaxy.
8 Lars Homestead
The closest place to an actual house-like-home any of the main Star Wars characters gets, with perhaps the exception of Leia's upbringing on Alderaan, the Lars Homestead is another iconic location in the Galaxy.
The setting of the gorgeous binary sunset, the Lars Homestead is not necessarily lame; it is a home, after all. However, on a planet like Tatooine, isolated for farming, it is hardly an exciting or stimulating environment to grow up in, and without the sunset, there is a lack of beauty.
7 Jedi Quarters
On Coruscant, in the Jedi Temple, all of the Jedi had their own living quarters. While grouping them together may seem unfair, none are truly that different, only getting such a high rank due to the personal touches.
The Jedi were allowed to decorate their own rooms with whatever they saw fit, which was a bit adventurous for the Jedi Code. Most Jedi choose to leave their quarters sparsely furnished, like Yoda. Anakin, however, decorated his with old podracing posters and memorabilia, as well as the technology he would tinker with. It was a very Anakin-looking room overall.
6 The Razor Crest
One of The Mandalorian's biggest shocks thus far came in season two when the Razor Crest, the home of Din and Grogu and a beloved ship that fans had become attached to, was destroyed. It was a heartbreaking moment.
What made it so emotional was the fact that Din had his home taken away from him. It was cluttered, damaged, not the sleekest ship in the Galaxy, nor the most spacious, but it still had some cool factor, and Din, with his bounty hunting ways, only made it more badass.
5 Ghost
Just as Rebels is one of the most underrated and underappreciated pieces of Star Wars content out there, the Ghost is one of the most underrated ships of the franchise, acting as both ship and home to the Specters throughout the show.
Externally it had a great design and color scheme fit for the show. On the inside, it had a lot of heart. It felt like home. The ship has four rooms for its six members, with Ezra and Zeb forced to share and Chopper just doing what Chopper wants. The Ghost is not the fanciest ship with the most detailed interior, but there is a family feel, a sense of home, and for Star Wars, that is pretty cool.
4 The Millennium Falcon
The most iconic home on this list is, without doubt, the Millennium Falcon, a constant in Star Wars for over forty years, home to some of its best characters and the setting of a slew of brilliant and memorable scenes.
There are two versions of the Falcon seen in the movies, Lando's sleek, shiny, clean version and Han and Chewie's beat up, rusty, and overall dirty-looking version. Both are incredible, and both are beyond cool, with flying the Falcon being a dream of every Star Wars fan out there.
3 Castle Serenno
Not a familiar location to many fans, Castle Serenno is only ever seen in the novels and in The Clone Wars and is the home of Count Dooku back on his native planet of Serenno.
Not many of the more casual fan base realize just how rich and important Dooku is on his own planet, and his castle signifies that. It is a huge sprawling landscape surrounded by gardens and faces off the edge of a cliff, which is the view Dooku gets out of the window of his room.
2 Fortress Vader
Depending on how the word cool is taken, Castle Serenno could easily be placed over Fortress Vader. While not necessarily a place that anyone would want to live in, unlike Yoda's hut or the Hellhound Two, Fortress Vader is jaw-droppingly awesome.
Vader chose to have his castle on Mustafar (a poetic choice) and had it built over an ancient Sith cave. By possessing individuals on the planet with his powerful mask, Momin designed the castle for Vader, designing it in a way to maximize its connection to the Dark Side of the Force, with Momin promising Vader the ability to meet Padmé again. Surrounded by the burning lava of Mustafar is not the ideal holiday destination, but the castle is awe-inspiring and fitting for someone of Vader's presence.
1 Theed Palace
There are few, if any, planets introduced in the Star Wars franchise thus far that are as utterly gorgeous as Naboo, a planet that every Star Wars fan has, at one point or another, wondered what it would be like to live there.
During her reign as Queen of Naboo, Padmé Amidala (née Narebbie) resided in the Theed Royal Palace, at the heart of her planet. There are many stunning places on the planet, but this palace which served as home for Padmé during her reign, is unreal; from its exterior look to its internal architecture, it is the coolest home any of the main characters in Star Wars manages to get.
