Red Dead Online Naturalists Get Double Money & XP For Animal Samples
The latest weekly update for Red Dead Online is live now, offering up double cash and XP rewards for Naturalists who partake in Sample Sales for the next week. Rockstar Games hasn't released an update of note for the online suite in quite some time, leading to a bit of unrest within the Red Dead Online community.
Active users are specifically disappointed in the dearth of major content releases, which have instead been supplemented by the drip-feed of weekly updates. These weekly drops go live every Tuesday and more often than not include bonus rewards, inconsequential challenges, and the like. Suffice it to say, fans aren't too thrilled about Red Dead Online's trajectory. The open-world title's multiplayer component left beta nearly two years ago, yet players are still asking for seemingly basic additions such as dog houses for the camp dog, more immersive campsite interactions, and the option to purchase in-game homes online. Whether or not such enhancements are on the cards remains a mystery, but the weekly updates seem as though they will continue unabated.
In a Rockstar Newswire post, the studio let loose details about this week's Naturalist-focused update. For every Animal Sample a Naturalist sells for the next seven days, they can expect to receive double the usual cash and XP in return. Sampling any Legendary Animal will net players access to 100 Sedative Varmint Rifle rounds, as well as five Animal Revivers. This week's double rewards also apply to every Free Roam Fishing Challenge; plus, Butchers will deal an extra 50 percent in cash when accepting fishing sales.
All users can grab a "wilderness-ready care package," too, which consists of three Potent Herbivore Bait, three Potent Predator Bait, and three Special Lake Lures. Players looking to pick up Red Dead Online's Advanced Camera are also in luck, thanks to the 40 percent discount that comes with completing a round of the Wildlife Photographer free roam event.
As is often the case, the latest weekly update will more than likely benefit some players more than others, given that many of this week's offerings specifically target Naturalists. How long Rockstar can keep up this trend isn't known as of yet, but fans are getting fidgety when it comes to content releases or the lack thereof.
There's still considerable demand for single-player updates, as well. Players especially have their fingers crossed for single-player DLC, a topic that reentered Red Dead-related discourse last month when a story DLC petition for Red Dead Redemption 2 received a surge in online signatures.
Red Dead Online is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
