Batman: The Long Halloween Part 1 Trailer Debuts Jensen Ackles' Dark Knight
The official trailer for Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One is here, revealing Jensen Ackles’ Dark Knight in a brand-new DC Universe animated film. Ackles leads a star-studded voice cast including Josh Duhamel as Harvey Dent, Troy Baker as Joker, Billy Burke as James Gordon, David Dastmalchian as Calendar Man, Titus Welliver as Carmine Falcone, and the late Naya Rivera as Catwoman. As with other DC Universe animated films, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One will release directly on Blu-ray and PVOD later this year.
Batman: The Long Halloween is one of the most famous and influential comic storylines for the Caped Crusader. The story follows a relatively young Batman as he teams up with GCPD’s Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent to stop an escalating Gotham mob war and a series of bizarre killings from a mysterious villain known as the Holiday Killer. The Long Halloween was one of the main influences on Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, and it looks like it may be a major influence on the Robert Pattinson-led The Batman as well.
An official trailer for Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One has been released via IGN, giving fans their first look at Jensen Ackles’ version of Bruce Wayne. The Supernatural star sounds eerily similar to Kevin Conroy’s iconic Dark Knight from Batman: The Animated Series, which bodes well for the film and Ackles’ potential future in the role. There are also looks at Troy Baker’s Joker, Naya Rivera’s Catwoman, and Josh Duhamel’s Harvey Dent, whose grim fate as Two-Face is heavily teased. Watch the trailer below.
The DC Universe animated films that began in 2007 with Superman: Doomsday have been widely praised, and Warner Bros. Animation has produced an impressive number of them over the past decade and a half. Ackles himself previously appeared in the animated film Batman: Under the Red Hood as Jason Todd. Now, he’ll be taking on the voice of Batman himself.
No official release date for Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One has been announced, but it’s expected to arrive at some point this spring or summer. The second part, which has already earned an R-rating from the MPAA (Part One is rated PG-13), is expected to release this fall. Between Batman: The Long Halloween, The Batman, and Ben Affleck’s return as Bruce Wayne in The Flash, fans of the Dark Knight have a lot to look forward to over the next year and a half.
