My granddaughter’s mum has banned me from seeing her and I’m distraught
DEAR DEIDRE: MY granddaughter’s mother has banned me from seeing her, and I’m distraught.
This little girl is the light of my life, and I can’t bear not seeing her grow up.

No issue is too small, too large or too embarrassing. Read our personal replies here.
I’m a widower, aged 64, and my son, 35, had a daughter, now five, with his ex-wife.
She used to stay with me at my house for one weekend every month. I even have a bedroom decorated for her, with toys and books.
But recently, my son and his ex had an argument, and she said he and I couldn’t see his daughter any more.
I think she’s trying to cut me and my son out of her life. She has a new partner and is pregnant again.
She’s in breach of the court order, but what can we do?
I’m heartbroken. I’m scared my granddaughter will forget me and I miss her so much.

DEIDRE SAYS: This is not fair on you or your granddaughter.
It’s better for her to have a loving grandfather in her life. Your son’s ex is being selfish.
