Every Star Wars: Hunters Character So Far | Screen Rant
Star Wars: Hunters is an upcoming combat arena game from mobile game developer Zynga. Set to release in 2022 for mobile devices and the Nintendo Switch, the game will be a 4v4 tactical teamfight experience featuring nine playable characters, each with their own unique strength in battle. Though much about Star Wars: Hunters has been shrouded in mystery, a new trailer released Sept. 14 that showcased what players can expect in the game, from arena setting to combatant options.
The game is set in the Outer Rim of the Star Wars universe, which canonically draws on outcasts from all walks of life, and traditionally functions outside the laws of whatever faction holds power in the galaxy. Star Wars: Hunters takes place after the fall of the Galactic Empire, once the Rebel Alliance has formed the New Republic. The game is set to feature characters from all reaches of the galaxy, ranging from Rebel heroes to bounty hunters to remnants of the Empire.
The new trailer gives a sneak peek at eight of the nine revealed Star Wars: Hunters characters. In a press release accompanying the trailer release, Zynga president of publishing Bernard Kim said, "Giving a brief glimpse of the Arena's high stakes, team-based action, this trailer showcases just a few of the dynamic characters inspired by the Star Wars galaxy that fans will experience in the game." Here's every Star Wars: Hunters character confirmed so far.
One of the main characters featured in the Star Wars: Hunters trailer, Rieve is is practiced in the dark side of the Force, if not an outright Sith. She wields a red lightsaber in battle. Rieve wasn't shown using the Force in the trailer, so it's unclear how that power will manifest in combat, but she will be an agile fighter regardless.
A Mandalorian bounty hunter, Aran Tal showcased a number of battle skills in the Star Wars: Hunters trailer. Equipped with blasters and a jet pack, he is shown facing off with Rieve, even going so far as to use a flamethrower against her. According to his bio on the game's website, Aran Tal has come to the arena to deliver justice to the wicked.
The only wookiee in the group, Grozz seems to be a tank for Star Wars: Hunters players to enjoy. He wields two powerful hammers made from the arms of droids, and tearing the mechanical beings apart is listed as one of his pastimes.
Unsurprisingly, as the only stormtrooper in the group, Sentinel is shown fighting alongside Rieve in the Star Wars: Hunters trailer. A character "unwilling to accept defeat," Sentinel wields a blaster cannon and could bring other weapons from a fallen Empire to the arena.
J-3DI, as his name's visual pun implies, is a Jedi fighter in Star Wars: Hunters and wields a blue lightsaber, making him an excellent foil to Rieve in battle. Interestingly, he is described on the website as being "programmed to believe that the Force is with him," so it's unclear if he will actually be able to wield that power. If so, this is a marked technological achievement in the Star Wars universe.
Another playable bounty hunter, Imara Vex is set to be a fierce competitor. Shown in the tag of the Star Wars: Hunters trailer, she claims to have the record for the most wins in the arena.
Two jawas stacked on top of one another, Utooni is sure to bring Tatooine desert tricks to Star Wars: Hunters. In the trailer, Utooni is shown throwing grenade-type weapons, making them excellent ranged combatants and demolition experts.
One of the more unique characters in Star Wars: Hunters, Sling Shot incorporates unique mechanical technology into his combat style. He's described as "an adrenaline-junkie joyrider," something evidenced by his wheel-like weapon zipping around the combat arena.
Zaina is a humanoid female, described on the website as a "veteran of the Rebel Alliance and hero to the New Republic." In the Star Wars: Hunters trailer, she is shown wielding a blaster with deadly aim.
Star Wars: Hunters will release in 2022 for Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
