Board set to review
cannabis proposal
The town Planning Commission has scheduled a hearing on an application for a cannabis business permit at 1930 Sir Francis Drake Blvd.
The applicant, Element 7 Fairfax LLC, is seeking a medical marijuana dispensary and cannabis delivery service at the building, whose current tenant is the Mana Bowls cafe. Element 7 also runs cannabis businesses elsewhere in the state.
The commission is scheduled to meet by teleconference at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16. Meeting access details are available at bit.ly/3tIZDxe.

Council fills seats
on oversight panel
The Town Council has appointed three residents to the Capital Programs Monitoring Committee, which oversees spending of Measure G sales tax revenue.
Bob Marcucci, Tarrell Kullaway and Viktoriya Wise were unanimously selected at the council meeting on Tuesday. One seat remains unfilled on the seven-member committee.

City to order hybrids
for police vehicle fleet
The San Rafael Police Department is replacing six Ford Tauruses with Toyota Highlander hybrid SUVs.
The City Council authorized the director of public works this week to purchase the Highlanders for up $282,000. The police department’s unmarked fleet has 14 vehicles.
The new vehicles will replace five SUVs that are nearing the end of their service lives and one that was destroyed in a collision, according to a staff report. The hybrids are expected to lower maintenance and fuel costs.

Extra funds allotted
for ferry landing job
The engineering team designing the ferry landing project will receive a $15,351 increase to pay for time spent at meetings with local professionals.
The City Council voted Tuesday to approved the contract increase with BKF Engineers for a total of $261,801.
The overall project, including construction, is expected to cost approximately $2.5 million. The Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District has dedicated $2 million in federal funding as well as an additional $400,000 toward the project.
