Skyrim Trademark Applications Indicate Elder Scrolls Themed Textiles
One of Bethesda Game Studio's biggest renowned titles, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, might officially be coming to homes in the form of household products very soon. Following the title's second re-release announcement, Bethesda's parent company, Zenimax Online Media, has filed a series of trademarks applications preparing to print the Skyrim logo onto anything made with fabric or cloth. Though it hasn't been established if it will hit storefronts, this action might be in celebration of Skyrim's 10th anniversary.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim came out in 2011 and followed the long-running action-role playing series set in the high fantasy fictional universe of Tamriel. Upon release, the title received critical acclaim along with awards from numerous gaming sites and publications that claimed it to be one of the greatest video games of all time. Due to its reception, Skyrim is considered to be Bethesda's prized possession and has seen numerous re-releases on almost every platform in the past ten years. This includes the Nintendo Switch, VR, and Amazon's Alexa, which was released as an audio-only joke version of the game by Bethesda to acknowledge the endless releases of Skyrim, which continue to be revealed.
In a series of new trademarks spotted by Gamespot on the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Bethesda's parent company Zenimax Online Media has filed applications for the Skyrim logo to be stamped on themed textiles such as towels, pillow covers, blankets, wall hangings, flags, and other salient household products. The applications were filed on September 6th but it is unconfirmed if these products will release any time soon, as the website states that new applications are assigned to an examining attorney approximately 6 months after the filing date. If accepted and released, however, fans can expect new elegant Skyrim merchandise to cover their homes with.
Last month another iteration of Skyrim was announced for its 10th anniversary this November. The second remastered re-release titled Skyrim Anniversary Edition will be coming to last-gen and current-gen consoles, as well as PC as a free next-gen upgrade for those who already own the title. Besides visual improvements, new features and bonuses will be also be added, such as fishing and over 500 pieces of Bethesda's Creation Club content to supplement adventures.
Whether or not Zenimax's trademarks for new Skyrim merch will be produced or not is undisclosed. Its anniversary is around the corner and November marks ten years since the last installment in the main series. Fans who are waiting impatiently for news regarding the next title can look forward to new Skyrim merch and the re-release of the title once more this fall, as the next game in the series, The Elder Scrolls 6, might be farther away than originally planned.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition will be available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5 on November 11, 2021.
