Racing tips: Templegate NAPS unbeaten horse at Newbury with title-chasing William Buick doing the steering

TEMPLEGATE returns on Thursday keen to bang in some winners as Ayr’s Gold Cup meeting continues.

KING OF CONQUEST (2.55 Newbury, nap)

Charlie Appleby won this race last year with the useful Yibir and has another hot prospect on his hands. William Buick was on board when he sauntered to victory at Sandown last month and stepping up in trip can bring lots of improvement.

DARTINGTON (4.35 Newbury, nb)

He never runs a bad race and was less than a length away at Epsom eight days ago. This distance is ideal and the handicapper has left his mark alone.

STRAITS OF MOYLE (1.35 Ayr, treble)

He struck with plenty in hand at Carlisle last week. He powered up the hill there and can cope with this stronger grade carrying a 6lb penalty for that smooth success.

Improved when second at Carlisle and this trip will suit.

Lots in hand when scoring latest and can cope with penalty.

Went close in a York Listed contest last time out.

Unlucky at Ripon last time and goes off the same mark again.

Has been running well off this mark and trip will suit.

Goes well here and can bounce back from modest Carlisle run.

5.00     Clay Regazzoni 

Finished strongly when third at Musselburgh last time out.

Took a step forward when second at Salisbury last time.

1.45     Silk Romance  

Had lots in hand when scoring at Newmarket last time out.

2.20     Croupier          

Improved to score on his handicap debut over course and distance.

2.55     King Of Conquest (NAP)          

Looked a nice prospect when winning on debut at Sandown.

3.30     Al Suhail          

Back to form at Haydock and saves best for this distance.

4.05     Makram          

Consistent and another good run at Newmarket last time.

4.35     Dartington (nb)           

Knocking on the door and went close at Epsom off this mark.

In great form over fences and can strike back over hurdles.

Followed Fakenham win with solid second at Fontwell.

Convincing win at Bangor and can strike again.

Two wins and a second heading here and trip should be ideal.

4.13     Aye Aye Charlie           

Good win here last time and this looks no tougher.

Two wins in similar races this season and can score again.

5.15     Bari Breeze      

Has gone close on both bumper runs and doesn’t need much more.

KEMPTON

4.50     Odisseo           

Won nicely on nursery debut and big chance under a penalty.

5.25     Thaler  

Went close last time and doesn’t need a lot more.

6.00     Phuket Power 

Goes well here and has a capable 3lb claimer on board.

6.30     Beholding        

Had lots in hand when winning at Lingfield last time out.

7.00     Evaluation       

Got his act together to score nicely at Lingfield last month.

7.30     Hy Eales          

Solid fourth at Nottingham and won’t be far away again.

8.00     Pedestal          

Good effort at Chepstow and Hollie Doyle on board today.

8.30     Mountain Ash 

Improved run last time and every chance off this mark.
