One person dead after daytime shooting in University District

COLUMBUS (WCMH) -- One person is dead after being shot in the University District Thursday afternoon.

A Columbus police dispatcher said the person was shot 1900 block of N. 4th St., which is between 19th and 20th avenues, around 3:15 p.m. He was taken to Grant Medical Center and pronounced dead at 3:40 p.m.

Deputy Chief Timothy Becker identified the victim as a 24-year-old male, and he said investigation does not appear to show that any Ohio State students were involved in the shooting.
