Aaliyah’s Uncle Says Her Mother Was Aware Of R. Kelly Relationship

Aaliyah’s uncle just did an interview about his late niece and threw her mother — Diane Houghton — all he way under the bus.

While on The Dr. Oz Show, former entertainment lawyer and Blackground Records co-founder Barry Hankerson claimed he was unaware Kelly was sexually abusing his niece but suggested Aaliyah’s mother (his sister) was more aware.

During his chat with Dr. Oz Hankerson also spoke about Aaliyah’s death, rumors that she may have been medicated before boarding the plane in the Bahamas and her relationship with Kelly.

Hankerson signed Aaliyah to Blackground Records when she was just 12 years old. He later introduced her to Kelly who ended up becoming her mentor and lead producer of her debut album Age Ain’t Nothin’ But A Number

Of course people online took issue with Hankerson’s interview since he continued to work with Kelly for years even after Aaliyah’s death.
