Star Wars Live-Action Art Imagines an Ahsoka & Anakin Lightsaber Duel
Anakin Skywalker battles his former Padawan in a new Ahsoka series fan-art. In light of the news that Hayden Christensen will appear in the upcoming Star Wars/Disney+ series, many are excited to see how his involvement will impact the show's narrative. Most importantly, it's also curious what circumstances will result in his presumed encounter with Ahsoka Tano.
Originally introduced as Anakin Skywalker's Padawan in Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated film, Ahsoka's story was further fleshed out in the Clone Wars series. While her debut wasn't met with positive feedback, over the years, she'd become a fan-favorite, even subsequently appearing in Star Wars Rebels. The character has become very popular that Lucasfilm eventually decided to bring her to the live-action pocket of the space saga. Rosario Dawson was cast to play the role and made her first appearance in The Mandalorian season 2. Despite appearing in just one episode of the Jon Favreau-created show, it also functioned as the launching pad for her own spin-off project which is shaping to be very exciting.
Plot details for the Ahsoka show are still under wraps, but the latest significant update reveals that Christensen will appear as Anakin Skywalker. Inspired by this news, digital artist mizuriau imagined what the former master and Padawan's upcoming encounter would look like, and it doesn't seem to be all that civil. Since there's very little known about the Ahsoka show thus far, it's still uncertain how Anakin fits into the story. However, since it will be set around the same time as The Mandalorian, its narrative will more likely revolve around her pursuit of Grand Admiral Thrawn. The Chiss tactician and his supporters may be planning something nefarious in an effort to take advantage of the power vacuum created when the Galactic Empire fell. Aside from this, Ahsoka's attempt to locate the villain may have something to do with the unknown whereabouts of Ezra Bridger who was last with him. Timeline-wise, Anakin is already dead during this point in Star Wars history, but he can always appear via a Force Ghost, or perhaps even through flashbacks. If the aforementioned scenario suggested by the fan-art comes to fruition, the scene would take place before Ahsoka and Darth Vader's duel in Malachor back in Star Wars Rebels.
It's worth noting, however, that the original report about Christensen's Ahsoka appearance says that he will specifically reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker. If that's really the case, then seeing Ahsoka fighting Darth Vader may not be in the cards for the show. Instead, flashbacks could reveal some of their older encounters in relation to what Ahsoka might be going through in the narrative. But, arguably, the most interesting scenario that could come out of this is seeing Anakin as a Force Ghost. Not only would this establish the fact that Ahsoka has been regularly convening with her old Jedi Master, but it also opens up the possibility of bringing back Christensen again for other Star Wars projects long after Anakin's dead.
