Disney's Cruella is the latest story in a trend of retelling Disney classics from the villain's point of view. The film reveals that Cruella is actually the alter-ego of Estella, a young woman aspiring to be a fashion designer. However, when she discovers her boss killed her mother, the evil alter-ego begins to make frequent appearances. In the end, Estella decides to live permanently as Cruella De Vil.
The film has an entire cast of strong personalities, some old and some new. For example, Cruella's henchman from the original 101 Dalmations are given more dimension while the entirely new character of the Baroness is introduced.
